Blake Lively
Blake Lively recently attended the “VIVA LA CURE” Benefit for EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund.
The Women’s Cancer Research Fund, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, was established to support innovative research, education, and outreach for the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all women’s cancers.

It’s very nice to see this Gossip Girl star having her priorities in order.
Here’s a Gossip Girl spoiler to follow up from yesterday’s preview of “The Handmaiden’s Tale.”
Caridee English - pictured here, a former winner of America’s Next Top Model - will play the role of Bart Bass’ date in the episode.

Remember, Bart is Chuck Bass’ father; he has some sort of history (or present?) with Lily van der Woodsen, who then asks Rufus out in order to make Bart jealous.
Do you think Lily and Rufus will eventually hook up? Talk about these developments and more in our Gossip Girl forum!
Coming up this week on Gossip Girl…
- We meet Vanessa (Jessica Szohor), Dan’s childhood pal, who tells him she wants to be more than friends.
- Blair does her best to keep party crashers out of the masquerade ball, but a disguised Dan and Jenny sneak in.
- Lily hopes to provoke jealousy in Bart Bass by asking Rufus to be her date at an event.
- Blair sends Nate on a scavenger hunt, but is upset to find that Nate still has feelings for Serena.

Ed Westwick
We love the portrayal of Chuck Bass by Ed Westwick.
But we also love hearing that the actor himself isn’t exactly the spoiled snob of a player that Chuck is made out to be
“I’m actually in a relationship right now, I’m nothing like him,” Westwick said in an interview with the CW11 Morning News. “I’m not the ladies man, I’m sorry. I’m a one-lady man.”
Perhaps it’s this difference between the actor and the character that makes Chuck so fun to play. Westwick continued:
“It is a lot of fun. Everybody keeps saying, ‘What’s it like?’ He’s… mysterious… [a] mischievous kind of guy, [which makes for] such an interesting dynamic for the group [and] for the whole show. From that point of view, it’s a lot fun… because he… gets into all of the meaty stuff with the storylines.”
Here’s an update regarding the latest additions to our Gossip Girl music section.
We only have a few lyrics from these songs, but the following tunes were heard on the last episode, “Dare Devil.”
- Little Ones - There’s a Pot Brewin
- Prima J - Rock Star
- Cadence Blaze - Came to Dance
- Two Hours Traffic - Ringing in My Ears
- Kat Deluna - Whine Up
- Ozzie Osbourne - Mama I’m Coming Home
- Zooland - Get Ur Party On

Ed Westwick
We loved this week’s episode of Gossip Girl, except for one thing: No Ed Westwick!
The absence of Chuck Bass was noticeable, as we crack up just looking at the guy. Let’s hear what the actor himself had to say about this great character in a recent interview:
Did you initially go in to audition for Chuck?
I think I may have gone in for Nate to start with, actually. I came in the next day and they [asked if I could read for Chuck.] To tell you the truth, I was hoping that I’d get the chance to read for Chuck because when I read the breakdowns and I read the pilot, he was the really interesting character.
At first, I think they were going to write it so that he was just a guest star, just recur, but after some thought – because my input, I like to say (laughs) – they decided to change that and make him one of the leads.
Chuck does seem to have more levels than some of the other characters. While he’s cocky, a bit swarmy and certainly manipulative — people still find him very appealing.
Chuck does a lot of things that other people would like to do – not talking about date rape and things like that – but things like being arrogant and a bit of a bastard, to tell you the truth. Maybe some people, given the opportunity, would like to behave that way, may get a kick out of being that way.
People find the bad boy appealing – I guess it’s a certain fantasy about things that a lot of us don’t want to do. They are naughty and they are kind of bad.
But in another way, Chuck’s such an interesting person to watch – just to see what he does next. Because you can see that cunning and he calculates things – he works at Blair and gets up to mischief, so to speak. Like all good characters, I think he will show us more colors and the other thing we have to remember is that he’s still young.
He’s still learning things and coming into his own as a young man and he’s going to go through some changes and wake up to the different ways the world can [work]. At the moment, he’s kind of living it up and what he knows [is] what he’s taken from his father — how his father acts, what his father does and the way he thinks things should be.
What is the hardest thing about playing Chuck?
In the beginning, the dark side of him was so dominant. It became like it was set in stone – that was him. I had it so set in my mind that this was him - that Chuck was dark and that was how he was - that it was difficult to see how he would be if he experienced something to lighten him up, to change him.
There’s a moment in “Bad News Blair,” where Chuck shows his loyalty to Nate (Chace Crawford). He goes and helps Nate out in a real sticky situation that Nate gets into with illegal gambling. He goes down there and he shows that he’s a stand by you kind of guy and sticks up for his best friend and shows that loyalty, shows that courage. It wasn’t difficult as much as it was interesting to see what was organic and what was natural, what came out between me and the other actors.

Blake Lively
As you discuss last night’s episode in our Gossip Girl forum, pick up an issue of this month’s CosmoGIRL. Its cover star?
Blake Lively.
Here’s what the actress had to say on a number of topics:
On fame:
“It is a crazy and completely insane business. I’ll go to an event wearing some designer gown and tens of thousands of dollars in jewels that were lent to me for the night, and I’ll walk around and meet people who I always thought were such a big deal…
Stars really are like anyone else. At the end of the day, Brad Pitt poops - as handsome as he may be - and so does Angelina Jolie. I’m still baffled by how odd this job is.”

On Hollywood’s “bad girls”:
“I think some people who bash on the girls in Hollywood who are struggling with addiction or going into rehab aren’t being totally fair; it’s not solely their fault. When you don’t have someone to model yourself after, you’re going to make mistakes. There’s no one there to tell them what’s right or wrong or who is a positive example.”
On her celebrity childhood crushes:
“As a kid, I had a huge crush on Leonardo DiCaprio and, oh my gosh, Justin Timberlake. They were the two I can really think of just being completely in love with.”

Round Table
Welcome to our first-ever Gossip Girl Round Table.
While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss their favorite character and story line, our staff comes together every week to analyze the latest developments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.
Topics in this edition include: Rufus and Lily getting to first base; the absence of Chuck and Nate; and a game of Truth or Dare. Let’s get to the Q&A…
Who will kiss first: Jenny and Eric? Or Rufus and Lily?
DANdy: Rufus and Lily. Eric has a lot of growing up to do, many demons with which to wrestle. He’s not ready to be swapping spit or starting any relationships until he’s happy with who he is as a person.
LovelyLively: Rufus and Lily. There were definite sparks between them last night. Anyone could see it! She can pretend to be all put together and out of his league, but you can tell she wants it. Rufus is one smooth operator and that middle-class charm will soon be too much for Lily to resist.
GossipGuy: Rufus and Lily for sure. Did you guys see that chemistry? And come on, Lily is starting to act more and more like a human and less like a socialite every episode. I can’t wait to see them together.

Where were Chuck and Nate?
LovelyLively: Nate was probably on a hot date… with a country singer, perhaps? Just a hunch. As for Chuck, sources tell me he was having a tryst of his own… with a dude. Just kidding. I have no sources. But think about it: Chuck, under the radar? He had to be keeping his whereabouts secret on purpose. If he’s gay, that’s all good by me, but still a tad scandalous.
GossipGuy: Good question! Dan may be my favorite guy on the show, but I need my Chuck (Ed Westwick) for entertainment - and I’m positive the ladies need Nate for the eye candy.
DANdy: On the welfare line. Remember last week? Nate had has his trust fund drained. Dude needs some cash. And Chuck - who proved in that same episode to be a surprisingly good friend - is keeping his poor pal company.
Truth or Dare with Blair: Harmless fun? Or asking for trouble?
GossipGuy: Well since they broke multiple laws and had a run in with the police? I’d say harmless fun since everyone got off scot-free. And, plus wow, it really made Jenny assert some social dominance! I want in the next game!
DANdy: Turns out Blair was asking for trouble by trying to initiate Jenny as just another working bee. Little Humphrey turned around that Blair Bitch Project and made it known that she’s far from a random Jenny from the Block.
LovelyLively: Hmm. How about harmless fun that progresses into serious trouble? Call it what you want, Blair seems to thrive on this teen pastime, and I don’t think she could have fun without causing trouble! Bad news Blair is the best kind of naughty!
