Gossip Girl Finale High on Realism Scale
Just how realistic is Gossip Girl? More so than ever this week, says New York Magazine in its patented (nonsensical) rating system, which takes into account the most real and surreal moments from each episode.
According to the show's unofficial publication, this week's episode, "Much I Do About Nothing," rated +28 on the realism scale! Below are excerpts from this New York Magazine feature.
- Why is Nate so obviously wearing makeup and gobs of hair goo while jogging in the park with his dad? Minus 2.
- Plus 2 for Dan finally making fun of Nate's "man bangs, and Blair letting slip that Chuck wears his scarf during sex.
- Serena does that annoying TV thing where she doesn't bother to clear up the fact that in the last episode, she told Dan she cheated on him with the two guys she left the bar with. Oops! Minus 2.
- Those orchid centerpieces are lovely. Plus 2.
- Rufus uses the phrase "AN historic moment." Minus 2.
- YESSSSS RUFUS AND LILY YESSSSSSS! Plus 10.
- "So I think we should be together forever," Georgina says to Dan, grabbing his hand. Okay, Georgina may be psycho, but she's smart enough to know what is psycho. Minus 2.
- Plus 4 for the fact that everyone at the end ends up with a completely different person: Serena with Nate, Dan with Vanessa, Blair and Random Guy, Chuck and Lydia Hearst.
- There are too many things we don't see in this episode. Like, um, the actual wedding? Nate and Vanessa breaking up? Come on, this is why it should have been a two-hour season finale. Not because, um, we are freaking the fuck out that we won't be able to see the show for an entire summer. Minus 3.
- Plus 1 for "At least I lasted longer than Lohan!"

I thought it meant that he didn't go all the way with Georgina but he went far enough sort of morally, that his relationship with Serena is over anyway even if he didn't do the nasty.

It doesn't mean that he slept with Georgina. Dan isn't that kind of guy to go so far with a girl he just met. Remember, Serena was his first. He's not going around banging any chick.
IT MEANS... what he has with Serena has been damaged so much so that he might as well have slept with Georgina since their relationship is basically over.

That doesn't mean he slept with Georgina
It means that they got down and dirty but
he didn't have sex with her. He probably didn't because
even though in this last episode he is a dumb ass, he still
loves Serena and morally couldn't bring himself to do it.
But he may as well have because he is guilty about what he
did and well - he feels like she wasn't honest with him. I
agree he isn't being "the most understanding person" he so
claims himself to be, but he still feels left behind by her
and well to be completely honest...She is too busy of a person
for him. They are the perfect couple, but maybe just not right
now.

what bothers me the most is jenny's clothes, if she's
supposedly a poor girl from brooklyn, why can she afford
valentino trench coats? Even if she did somehow muster up the
money for that trench, how did she NOT know how much Hazel's
mom's valentino was worth, especially if she's SOOOO educated
on fashion??????????????

As much as i loved seeing Blair take down G, it was hilarious to hear that line "Plus 1 for "At least I lasted longer than Lohan!"
Nate and Vanessa broke up? HOw when? and who said so?
