Producers Considering Gossip Girl Spin-Off
Brace yourselves for this piece of Gossip Girl news.
The producers of Gossip Girl are considering a possible spin-off set at the girls' boarding school - basing the new series either on Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen), and/or on a new character.
The new character, if that route is chosen, would be introduced after the original Gossip Girl returns for Season 2 this fall.
In either case, the spinoff is likely to focus on the storyline of Taylor Momsen's character, Jenny, from the book series.
Jenny Humphrey is a self-esteem challenged outsider who, in the books and to an extent on the TV version of Gossip Girl as well, faces a series of humiliating, public embarrassments.
As a result, Jenny H. has to either repeat ninth grade or find herself a new school. She decides to enter a different boarding school and reinvents her image as the popular "it" girl.
It is unknown if a spinoff would go to the CW or another network.
What do you think? Would you watch a Gossip Girl spin-off? Do you think Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) can carry her own show?

i like da idea of a spin off... but i'd prefer it a different girl played jenny humphrey, other wise it'll be really boring. i dont really like taylor
June 11th, 2008 7:53 AM
i meant if a different girl played jenny, not it
June 11th, 2008 8:45 AM
nooo i dont think thats a good idea, i mean jenny just isnt a really really strong character like someone id be so compelled to see leading the show. I wouldn't mind a spinoff but itd have to be someone else.
June 11th, 2008 8:47 AM
i think that this will be not a good idea...and i hope that this idea will be throw away...
June 11th, 2008 9:10 AM
i think its an okay idea...i mean we've all seen her with that "It" girl attitude. i think she could pull it off, the only thing i would worry about if i were her is if people are going to watch it...because if they dont watch gossip girl then they might not get the whole story. people who watch gossip girl might also not like her character jenny, and if they dont why should they watch it? oh well i guess we will have to wait and see..

i would rather that they make a spin-off on the novel the carlyle triplets
but i would be more happier if they didnt make a spin-off because that would mean that are favourite loved characters would be gone and that gossip girl would be over
so what i really want to say is just keep gossip girl going keep it alive
June 11th, 2008 10:17 AM
That would most likely not go over well
June 11th, 2008 10:39 AM
I think they should not do the spin-off I like gossip girl too much for it to end now
June 11th, 2008 10:49 AM
I dont think they should make one because then it would be the end to gossip girl.
June 11th, 2008 11:53 AM
ARE YOU CRAZY???
That is a horrible idea!!!!
Keep the show as it is... no it girl thing...
PLEASE DON'T!!!
Gossip girl is the best show on TV, you can't just stop it!
June 11th, 2008 12:04 PM
Noooooo what the hell are they thinking!!!! Stupidiest idea i've ever heard!!
June 11th, 2008 12:57 PM
i think everyone agrees on what i think so producer's dont end gossip girl
we'd all be crushed if you guys ended it
June 11th, 2008 2:02 PM
No way! I like Jenny's storyline in Gossip Girl and if they got a new character it would not be as popular as Gossip Girl or as good.
June 11th, 2008 2:24 PM
I wouldn't watch it. GG or Nothing!

It's not true, Josh Schwartz said so himself:
"Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment," Schwartz tells me. "The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start."

I think they should do a spin-off, but still keep GG going, if it ever ends I will die!
I like Taylor as Jenny, but it would be better if she looked more like the part, she's the complete opposite of what Jenny is described as in the books!
But I think a separate "IT Girl" show would be good, as long as it doesn't stop GG showing.
June 11th, 2008 3:27 PM
No, that would be lame :(
June 11th, 2008 4:24 PM
For a spin-off to be done correctly, imo, they'd have to make Jenny go through a lot. I mean even more so than what she's already been through. They would have to re-develop her character (Taylor's) enough to make it so she alone could carry the new series without the worries of messing up Gossip Girl (I'm not trying to compare but after they killed off Marissa Cooper on "The OC" that show died in its final [4th] season, even though Jenny's not one of the main characters).
If they stick to the storyline and make it believable enough for people to watch it, then yes, go for the spin-off. But don't give it to another network, keep it on The CW because another network might air it at the same time Gossip Girl is airing.

NOO!!!
maybe it would last a few epsiodes, but I don't think it'll go any further without the other charachters. There's still a lot of things to "talk" about Blair and Serena, specially if they're consedering folowing the book(s) storyline.
June 11th, 2008 5:30 PM
Im still gonna watch it for the sake of just watching it or loyalty. but i will not get out of my way to download just to be updated of what is happening. So i could be like a month behind and I don't think I would care.
S! B! N! C! and D are the reasons why Gossip Girl is Gossip Girl now! Ü
June 11th, 2008 6:10 PM
I would watch it if it was not taylor. i dont think that she can have her own show.
June 11th, 2008 7:15 PM
Ugh, no. Taylor, though pretty, is boring enough in a show filled with other exciting characters. Imagine if she had a show of her own. Snooze fest!
June 11th, 2008 8:34 PM
NO WAY! I think it's a terrible idea. I don't think it's meant to, but some how, I feel as if it would ruin the Gossip Girl experience, having another show with Jenny Humphrey as the central character. Right now, it feels as if Gossip Girl is its own little world, but with a spin-off, it would all be ruined.
June 11th, 2008 10:32 PM
i think the spinoff is a great idea but maybe not for a couple more seasons....
Jenny doesnt play as big of a role in the show as she does in the books so not a good idea....
instead of Jenny being the main character it should follow all of the main characters into college like one tree hill and stuff...
June 12th, 2008 12:59 AM
No that would be horrible especially with taylor she isn't a good role leading person seriously that would kill it that would be sooo boring she's ok on the show but her own show what is wrong with these people and these crazy ideas???
