1. What was the best Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: A reminder of just how sweet and innocent Lonely Boy remains, in spite of the amoral carnage so often thrown in his face: "If I have to exploit people to be a good writer, then maybe I don't want to be a good writer."

Mister Meester: When a hyperventilating Blair yells “Don’t ever go to high school, Dorota! The girls are spoiled, stupid and ungrateful!” This implies that Dorota: 1. Cares. 2. Hasn't gone to high school before. 3. Would, at some time in the future.

Gossip Guy: No brainer. When Dan comes to Chuck's door and says "I know we don't like each other. You think I'm a boring, sheltered nobody." Chuck had the best response of all time... "I don't think of you." Chuck, you make the show.

2. What do you think was in the envelope Bart gave Lily?

DANdy: A love letter from Eric to Clay Aiken.

Mister Meester: My guess is Serena isn't the only van der Woodsen to be involved in a sex tape. Man, people never think those are gonna get out.

Gossip Guy: Ooooh, I imagine we've only gotten slight insight into with her past with Rufus. Maybe medical records from that abortion when she was carrying Rufus' love child? Or even grosser, what if that love child was Serena. Or maybe, it's a picture of Lily's face before the nose job. Really, I have no clue and pray they reveal it next week.

Gossip Girl stars Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley are on the cover of the November 2008 issue of Details Magazine! The hunky trio gave lengthy interviews with the publication. Some excerpts of their comments:

Chace Crawford on the inner workings of the TV star life: “I literally go into the bathroom and wipe off one layer of makeup. My occasional zit is a big deal — oh, they turn on the alarms for that. And they get mad if I get sunburned or get a haircut.”

Chace Crawford, on being under contract for six years (as are his co-stars; it's customary for TV shows): “It never really gets frustrating. Sure, sometimes you just want to have a scene where you’re drunk or having fun. I’m hoping for a fall from grace for Nate. Five years from now, I better have murdered someone!”

Penn Badgley on his relationship with girlfriend and co-star Blake Lively: “It's wonderful and also something to grapple with in terms of mixing work and pleasure. You have to draw the line somewhere. I’m fine talking about my family and personal history, because it humanizes you. But I have to save some sh!t for me.”

Ed Westwick on Penn Badgley’s chest hair: “Penn said he has to shave his chest hair because it’s threatening. Reeeaallly... Well, I think Penn’s chest hair may be more like a scarf. It actually comes out of his neck! So maybe that’s why he has to cut it. Threatening? I don’t know what threatening hair would look like.”

Q: What is the deal with the photo of little Jenny kissing Nate on Gossip Girl?! Is she stealing everything from Blair? Are they actually a couple?

A: You must be talking about the photo below. I will say this, it looks like Jenny has the most outrageous storyline of everyone coming up.

Q: What's the deal with Jenny and Nate?

A: It's on! Duh. That photo is no joke. And I can tell you that Jenny is growing up in more ways than one this year. It looks like she really might be dropping out of school to start a big, fancy career! What will Rufus say?

Q: How about a little Gossip Girl gossip?

A: Oh, twist my arm! I love that show, and I'm hearing that episodes 6-10 are amazing. The sixth episode is where Serena and Blair go to Yale and get in a physical catfight. Is it sad that I'm looking forward to this more than any other TV event right now? Also, Serena really starts falling for new character Aaron Rose, the artist whom she knew when she was younger. Looks like S is most definitely into creative types.

Every Tuesday, the previous night's Gossip Girl episode is reviewed by New York Magazine and assigned scores according to its arbitrary "reality index."

Below are some of the highlights, realistic and otherwise, from the publication's meticulous, hilarious of this week's episode, "The Serena Also Rises" ...

• Laurel: "Kirsten Dunst? So 2007. Her rehab barely made the radar.” Plus 2, because that is kind of totally true and Plus 5 for awesome bridge-burning. 

• How come Eleanor Waldorf lets teenagers decide everything for her? Minus 6.

• Plus 2 for Dan Humphrey, after all his chatter about getting out of his comfort zone and the bravado of punching the guy in the club, melting into a puddle of teen angst about how his dad will react the second he and Chuck end up in jail.

• Minus 1 for Jenny wearing a string of Jell-O cubes around her neck.

  

• Blair takes out her rage at being usurped by Serena on Jenny, perpetuating a centuries-old cycle of girl-on-girl bullying. Plus 8.

• Minus 3 because why doesn’t anybody ever rat out Blair to her mom? Is she the only one who gets to call in adults in case of emergency?

• Of course Bart hired a private investigator to follow Lily. Plus 2, and of course she didn’t end up caring once he gives her jewelry. Plus 2.

• Dan and Chuck in jail? No way. Cops never get called to exclusive clubs, and if they did, the perpetrators would never get arrested. Minus 4.

• It's about time the Blair vs. Serena jealousy-insecurity thing came to a head again. Plus 10 to Gossip Girl writers for putting that out there.

• The next episode teaser shows Serena and Blair at Yale. Could they be setting the stage for Gossip Girl to spin off into a college drama? Plus 5 for dreamers who dream dreams. But minus 5 because Serena would never get into Yale.

It just keeps getting better and better.

Last night's episode of Gossip Girl, "The Serena Also Rises," featured more of the catty backstabbing, humor and plot twists we've come to love - at Fashion Week, no less!
