What are you guys talking about? Yeah, those pants are ugly but it's totally a New York fashion style! Just not everyone can pull it off. I'm from Queens and if you go to Jamaica Ave. you'll see a lot of girls (tho it's mostly girls of color) dressed like that; from neon yellow, to bright orange, to purple and the sneakers to match. Also if you go to certain parts of Brooklyn you'll see the same thing and since V is from Brooklyn I'd say that her fashion sense is about rite.

In real life Vanessa would have not worn that bag, jacket, and earrings to go with that look. If she wants to wear the tights fine but she would be geeked out: iraqi scarf, a white coat, new white nikes or jordans, and some cute white glasses to go with it, grapic tee...(aka the works) and a new sidekick in her hands.Vanessa is a relevant cast memeber and should be on Gossip Girl in only the best urban fashion. If she is gonna be a fashionable girl of color on the show I need them to step up the fashion game on Vanessa and her storyline too since we're at it!!

Gossiplicious that's a stereotype. I'm into the whole film/photography thing and I don't dress in anything European or 60's at all (although I'll give you the scarf thing. I've been known to wear them on occasion. LOL). I wear a lot of A&E (American Eagle) clothes, very preppy causal with some pearls thrown in somewhere.
Just because you're black doesn't mean you have to wear Apple Bottom, Baby Phat, and JLO. In fact, I would think it would be kind of racist if Vanessa were the only character to wear Dereon all the time. LOL
And I never said Vanessa had good taste in clothes, I merely stated that her style is a New York one. In fact those pants she has on are very tacky to me too. I think the outfit would have been better if she wore purple ones instead. It would have with nicely with the blue sweater she has on underneath that awesome jacket. = ]

Btw, I'm a film student here in Cali and let me tell you as soon as she would hit LA her green pants would be left at the airport. Not a good look.
I never said black people wear any of those names I said. I am going from a Cali style point of view and mixing brands is a neccessity. A girl of color or otherwise here would totally have a Mui Mui outfit with a Baby Phat handbag or a Juicy bag with a dress from the thrift store. And sorry to say it but all those brands I named would make any girl from Brooklyn to Singapore happy as heck to have. If Vanessa was told she could have a whole Dereon wardrobe and the entire fall Baby Phat Handbag collection...if she would only throw those hideous green pants away....they would be in the trash post haste.
Plus there are so many avenues of Urban Fashion. Street, Glam, Ghetto, Chola, Harajuku, etc. The brands I named were high end female Urban Fashion. Since GG lets B and S wear Chanel, Mui Mui, Prada, Gucci...etc,shouldn't Vanessa be into high end Urban wear also just to counterpoint the others. I'm not saying Dereon head to toe but if Baby Phat is the Louis V of Urban Fashion then she needs to get the hook up. They should take a real look into Urban Fashion and have some fun with it. Her character is so ridculuos they might as well give us something cute to look at.

it's really to each their own. it'd be boring if everyone agreed all the time.

I'm sick of having to repeat this but I will anyway, she's beautiful, a true unique beauty, she has an interesting skin tone and gorgouse almond eyes, the way they dress/do her makeup in gossip girl does her no favourous, Leighton Meester is pretty but if I saw her on the street I wouldn't look at her twice, but if I saw Jessica I'd probably just gawp in awe of her beauty.
