Some pieces of Gossip Girl spinoff cast news have come to light in recent days.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Andrew McCarthy will be joining the Gossip Girl spinoff as Lily's father, a music company exec. The show will follow the teenage years of Serena's mom Lily, played by Brittany Snow, in 1980s Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, EW reports that Lost alum Cynthia Watros is close to a deal to play Lily's mom, CeCe. Also onboard is Ryan Hansen, best known as Veronica Mars' aptly named Dick.
He'll play Owen's (Shiloh Fernandez) pal, Shep, who's crushing (futilely) on Krysten Ritter's character, Carol (Lily's sister). Hansen is currently on Schwartz' web series, Rockville.
Cynthia Watros, Ryan Hansen and Andrew McCarthy (left to right) are all joining the Gossip Girl spinoff-prequel, sources say. Brittany Snow will play a young Lily.

I LOVED Hansen as Dick Casablancas - he was one of the best characters on Veronica Mars!!
I was already intrigued by the previous spin-off casting info, now I'm *definitely* going to be watching! :D

I love Brittany Snow and Ryan Hanson...but eh...I hate Lilly and Rufus and really have no interest. :[

I LOVE Andrew McCarthy!!!!!!
They are going to reach a new audience with this show - by dating it in the 80's, and adding an 80's Brat Pack star (McCarthy), they will really key in the age 25-40 demographic...
I didn't like the sound of the show at first, but now with all the casting they've done, I am excited!

Agreed with LuvChuck!!!!!!!! Andrew McCarthy will make the show! I love the young McCarthy but I don't mind watching him old :)
