The State of Gossip Girl

Are you feeling Gossip Girl these days?

We all love it, of course. Otherwise we wouldn't be here.

What we mean is, do you think it's heading in the right direction? The ratings are flat and some fans' angst about certain stories is getting louder with each episode.

Could TV's hottest, sexiest most glamorous, most buzzed-about show be succumbing to the country's larger woes and falling on hard times?

Most importantly, are the Gossip Girl powers that be getting worried? What does the network think of the recent episodes? Are they feeling your pain?

Sexy Gossip Girl Cast

Despite some recent strife among viewers, sources at the CW say there's no serious concern about Gossip Girl: "The storylines are so good," says a Gossip Girl insider.

"It was gone for so long they were expecting something amazing."

Personally, we felt the last two episodes were pretty solid, with "The Grandfather" the better of the pair simply because more happened. Are you in agreement or did you come away disappointed? What do you want to see by season's end?

Your arguments for and against certain romances or characters only help the producers know how to tantalize us in the future, so comment away.

The writers of GG have spent too long making chuck muck around with blair. Ok thats great. It was great at first. Now? It just pisses me off. They are either together, or their not. Although, i want chuck to be with blair permanently. I still want him to be cool though. But chuck has for way too long been fooling around.

  2. Joanna Says:

OMG. OMG. this is tragic. It was obvious right from the start that Blair and Chuck had sparks. Blair is way too wild for Nate. If only chuck would stop his obsession for other women, they would be perfect! Blair and chuck are way better together. Chuck is seeing the error of his ways and is coming round to be more of a man like Nate is, only he will be better for Blair.
BLAIR AND CHUCK ALL THE WAY, PEOPLE.

  3. chuckbass Says:

ok, Nate+Jenny said she was looking for change yet she proposed things that have already happened. If you are looking for a change, dont suggest things that we have already been there, done that. you dont get more surprise or excitement from things that have already happened. Rufus and Lily are a boring couple, and Dan and Serena have been together and broken up so many times in the past. Even Nate and Jenny have been together and Nate realized that it didnt work. I'm sorry im being so frank with you, Nate+Jenny but the show will only become worse with your suggestions because all of that stuff you mentioned already happened!!!!!!!

  4. anna Says:

nair all the way , but sorry chair. I started to watch gg and fall in love with the show. Nair break up i have stop watching it til last episode of Nair getting back together. If i didn't see the preview I would not even consider gg anymore. Chair carries out to long, beside the true Blair is a "good girl" who possesses a more sensitive and good-natured center in which when she is with Nate bring the good Blair out naturally. You said Chuck let Blair be who she is but does he know what she want? Blair's biggest vices are her "insecurities" with regard to her social status, which often make her an overachiever. This is partly due to the jealousy she feels toward Serena. If there are no more Nair I will stop watch GG again. It didn't kill me teh first time, why now?

  5. NATE+JENNY Says:

    1. First of all, I love Gossip Girl I will admit. But it's getting way too boring. The show needs some surprises and excitement. The sam things keep occurring in all the episodes...get some change! The second season is almost over and NO ONE wants the long wait for season 3 so make it end well!
    2. In my opinion, I'd like to see Chuck and Blair together. No no no forget Blair and Nate-THEY'RE OVER AND DONE! I was soo disappointed when Blair and Nate kissed at then end of the latest episode! They only have history but Chuck and Blair only have future! CHAIR all the way!
    3. I think that Nate should be single for JUST A LITTLE WHILE. I think that he's been through so much he should take a break to think about everything...not including all that family junk. What I really want to see in the show is Nate think for maybe 1-2 episodes. Then, I think he should go back to Jenny! It's new, it's different, it's fresh and unexpected! I mean c'mon...Nate's been with Blair for too too long, the Serena thing is mess and they're just perfect as friends, Vanessa is too complicated and it just has too many problems! All that's really left is Jenny. They clicked from the beginning, sure there's a gap in age but that will make it all the more exciting and intense! It would be cool to show how Nate we think all this through and then he would go tell Jenny he has true feelings for her. Jenny should then be a little surprised, have some time to think, then they should go out and discuss how they stand...which should be a couple. AND IF THEY DO BECOME ONE, WHICH THEY SHOULD, WRITERS PLEASE KEEEEEEP THEM TOGETHER FOR A LONG LONG TIME! THE SHOW NEEDS A STRONG RELATIONSHIP FOR ONCE!
    4. Serena and Dan have been through so much they need to finally get over themselves and admit they're madly in love! They have so many problems but I think they should have this big argument/fight about everything which would FINALLY solve what they haven't been able to talk about...but then they should just kiss and go back to normal patterns.
    5. Lily and Rufus are so close so it would be incredible if they took a chance, moved in together, and just stay that way, seeing as Serena and Dan might be together at the time!
    6. That leaves Vanessa and Eric. It would be kind of cool if Eric became good friends with Vanessa. It would be a new "circle" instead of the usual.
    7. GET WILD! Things are getting too safe for the show's exciting nature...WHAT ABOUT THE PARTIES AND THE FUN!! HAPPINESS FOR EVERYONE= NATE+JENNY (Jenny and Nate are my favorite characters and I want them to be a couple...maybe even slowly fall in love!WOAH THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!)Chuck+Blair, Serena+Dan, Lily+Rufus. And Vanessa and Erice as friends.
I would really appreciate if you take these opinions into careful consideration. After all not everyone can't be happy but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I BEGGING THE WRITERS/PRODUCERS TO THINK ABOUT THESE THOUGHTS I WOULD LOVE YOU!! PLEASE!

  6. Bass! Says:

whatever anyone says gossip girl will forever be one of my all time favourite shows
the only thing that pisses me off is that they have theses random breaks in the show when you dont see nay new epioseds for like a good month its good in a way to keep viewers interested but honesly im jsut naturally an impatient person
the realtionships in the show have been jumping from one person to a next and it gets confusing but i guess that why we love the show so much
since the show got renewed for a 3rd season how are they gonna do thay with all them going to different schools

  7. chuckbass Says:

Ok...so I do admit that GG had some pretty dumb storylines since since the episode with The Opera. Miss Carr and Elle were just boring storylines that didnt have any substance for the show. I felt like those plotlines were there just to take up space. The Gradfather and The Remains of the J were two of the best episodes in a while. Hopefully GG doesnt go through a rut like that again. Here are some of my suggestions for what needs to happen.

    1. Chair/Nair

Ok, I want Chuck and Blair to be together as much as anyone, but after they stopped chasing eachother it got a little boring. I do like that now that Chuch is trying to win Blair back that she is going for Nate. I think that is good because it creates a more realistic suspense, like Chair is on the verge of happening because we all know that Nair will never work. I think this kind of suspense is good, but to keep the viewers interested with it, Chair has to happen sometime soon. Because the viewers want it so bad, they are going to get tired of waiting for it. We've already waited almost the entire season for it...ever since Chuck couldnt say "I love you," some of us have been waiting since Chuck made the best man speech at Bart and Lily's wedding. It doesnt need to happen right now, but it needs to happen soon.

    2. Jenny

Jenny...other than this recent episode, Jenny has pretty much done nothing since returning to Constance. She need something, maybe a new guy (but please not Nate, I HATED that) or some friend pressure/drama. One of my favorite episodes from season one was when Jenny went to Blair's sleepover and they challenged eachother to truth or dare. It challenged Jenny to decide if popularity was worth it's price. Now she has chosen that she doesnt care if she is popular, so that whole storyline kind of dug itself a hole that it cant get out of. I think part of the reason why Jenny doesnt have anything to do is because the writers dont know what to do with her. Her race for popularity is over, and she is out of the fashion industry, so they need to play on something different or fresh. The Jenny drama in the first season was so captivating, but Jenny is losing her appeal.

    3. Rufus/Lily

Ummm...I really think Rufus and Lily need some drama right now in their relationship, but I know that that will come when the love child comes back. They need that because to be quite honest, their relationship is pretty boring without any scandal. Maybe it is time to bring in some plotlines from "The It Girl" series and have Jenny go off to boarding school as a side plot in season three. She and Eric will be the only ones not graduating, anyway. That way there can be some drama with Callie, Tinsley, and Brett.

    4. Nate

I love Nate, but he's gone through a lot of tough stuff in season one and two. I'm actually thinking now that we should see a bit of Nate's wild side. (we all know he has one...he slept with his girlfriend's best fried after getting drunk at a wedding.) Nate needs to let loose a little because he had so many serious things to deal with in the past. Let Nate have some fun!

    5. Dan

Other than the scandal with Miss Carr, I feel like Dan has been just sitting there doing nothing. He and Serena are finally over, hopefully for good this time, so I think that it's time he found himself someone else. We got a glimpse of another side of Dan Humphrey in the season two premier when gossip girl refered to him as "playboy" because he was dating two girls at once. Maybe that side of Dan needs to come back again.

    6. Just some food for thought:

    Season 3

What are they going to do about season three?

Pretty much all of the characters are going to different colleges.

Are they going to create a new set of friends for all of them or what is going to happen...I dont even want to think about having them all split up like that.

I think that no matter what happens, I will still support the show, but these are just a few of my suggestions.

  8. god_bless_queen_blair Says:

Just re-watched the entire first and second season. On this second round I found out that only scenes with Blair interacting with anyone and Chuck interacting with anyone are actually really interesting, probably due to the fact that the actors generally give stronger and more nuanced performances than others. So, be they together or not, the interest of the show at the moment is mostly what happens to Blair (she has become the main character), and after that, Chuck. At the moment Lily&Rufus are super boring, so is Jenny's story, Nate and Vanessa both used to be snorefests as characters but the writers have finally managed to give them some story lines, and Dan, well, he is watchable as is Serena but not much happening on their fronts at the moment. Am worried for the spin-off and JS's movie since they might scatter the attention even more and throw the last remaining strong characters and story lines in limbo. Hope that won't happen, hope they shift the emphasis more and more towards the characters of interested, ie. Blair and Chuck, even if not in a romantic way.

  9. Rachel Says:

They need to STOP prolonging Chuck/Blair. They keep on teasing the fans and then disappointing them... Soon enough, people are going to lose interest. It is frustrating. Either get them together or break them off! They can't keep relying on fans wanting to see more... when they're not even giving something concrete.

Plus, the relationship roulette is STUPID. Seriously. The show used to be pretty smart, witty and engaging. Now they're all just exchanging partners - even when it's totally out of context, just because those actors are real-life couples doesn't mean we also want to see them make-out onscreen.

Continuity and consistency are problems. They keep skipping episodes and storylines, then bringing it back out, then moving on to another storyline. Seriously, the writers really need to get their act together.

  10. Plot Twister Says:

    About the Grandfather:
I see lots of opportunity for development with family characters played in that episode. Since, his immediate family has disappeared from the show... we could see the "controlling calculating Grandfather" come to life... or maybe the cousin actually plotted to Nate rejoin the extended family so that it would give him a break from main focus. Now that Nate is involved in that internship the cousin can spend more time with his gf. Maybe the cousin has his own agenda... and we will see those characters more involved in plots in NYC.
