Round Table: "A Southern Gentleman Prefers Blondes"

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Round Table! The Gossip Girl Insider staff comes together each Tuesday to analyze the burning questions, classic quotes and memorable moments from the previous evening's episode of our favorite show.

This week's hot Gossip Girl topics include memorable lines and fashion statements, the future of Nate and Blair, Rufus proposing to Lily, Gabriel's scheme and much more.

Sound off below or in our Gossip Girl forum after reading our take on last night's show!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: When Gabriel asks Poppy what the hell Butter is. Ha! Like anyone well-connected in New York City would not be familiar with this popular hot spot, owned by Paula Abdul's ex-boyfriend, JT Torregiani.
Gossip Guy: It may be the Chair fan in me, but I got all giddy through the whole scene where Chuck and Blair met up while she was spying. We'll give the best quote to Chuck Bass for noticing the beret and immediately asking who she's spying on.
Mister Meester: This week was a tie for me. First, Gabriel telling Poppy, "Serena didn't steal me. She swept me away." Awful. No self-respecting dude would say that, even in the midst of an investment scam. Second, I was wondering how Blair could possibly know Gabriel's story was bogus when she said: "I know for a fact Butter was closed that night because I used their bartender for the Nelly Yuki SAT sabotage party!" Genius.
2. Best fashion moment of the night - Chuck's basketball attire, Serena's "dress" at the co-op party, or the "OMJC" shirts at Georgina's camp?
DANdy: Gotta go with Serena's "dress." I liked how it drew attention to her "giant boobs."
Mister Meester: OMJC was a hilarious touch, but you gotta go with Serena wearing lingerie to an upscale party. Also great? After trying that cleavage-baring undershirt dress on, she opted for another, but Blair made her change back.
Gossip Guy: Oh this is an easy one, definitely Chuck's basketball uniform. A close second is his purple bowtie he wore with a pink shirt.
Gossip Girl Spoilers: Season Finale Tease
Will the upcoming season finale shape up just like last year's, or will the outcome be markedly different? And will we ever meet the mysterious, vanishing love child?
Below are excerpts from E! Online's spoiler Q&A this morning ...
Q: I need to know if Chuck and Blair are ever going to work things out on Gossip Girl!
A: We can promise that this year's Gossip Girl finale is not going to be a repeat of last year's disaster: This time around, Chuck does not screw over Blair.
In fact, we can promise that if you love Chuck and Blair, you will love the finale, and you will be compensated for all your pain and suffering this past year.
Q: What's the deal with Rufus Humphrey and Lily van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl? Are they going to move in together or what?
A: That's all going to feel very secondary after the Gossip Girl finale, when we will meet (finally) the spawn of Rufus and Lily.
Chair-ish the Moment
Will Season Two of Gossip Girl end blissfully for this pair?
Gossip Girl Recap, Music, Pics, Quotes, Etc.
Monday night's Gossip Girl, "A Southern Gentleman Prefers Blondes," featured so much drama, scandal and intrigue, Blair Waldorf even broke out the beret.
She and Chuck had Serena's boyfriend Gabriel pegged as a shady character from the start, and have enlisted a familiar face - Georgina - in their efforts.
But is Chair's shared desire to protect Serena from Gabriel just a way of reconnecting with each other? And will Nate ultimately suffer the consequences?
It should be fun to watch unfold in the final three weeks of the season. Follow the link for our official recap of "A Southern Gentleman Prefers Blondes."
Also check out our gallery, videos, music guide and list of Gossip Girl quotes (work in progress). Our fashion recap and Round Table are still to come, too!
The Tuesday A.M. Gossip Girl Reality Scale
New York Magazine offers an arbitrary, yet humorous and insightful analysis of each week's Gossip Girl the next morning. Below are some of their thoughts on "A Southern Gentleman Prefers Blondes." Comment and add your own ...
  • Serena is naive and entitled enough to believe that running away with your friend's boyfriend is okay as long as you are truly in love, and also to have the temerity to claim friendship with and love for said friend after committing such an act. Women like this totally exist, so Plus 8. But if someone pulled this kind of crap on The Hills, they'd get slapped ten ways 'til Tuesday.
  • We will never, ever, ever get over Chuck and Nate playing basketball on Chrystie Street, just south of Houston. There is not one explanation for why they would play there and not in some private club. Minus 3, because honestly. It must have been awkward for them to even film there.
E-Baller
  • Vanessa is clearly tormented, and her horror is visceral, real, and needs to be addressed. She stutters to Dan that she needs to tell him something because it would be "good to talk about." Then she realizes, no, it's too horrifying to say aloud without the aid of alcohol. Which she does, taking an extra step by turning it into an "I Never" game, and chugging the beer immediately after each dire revelation, as much to cover her face as to dull the pain. We can relate. Plus 7.
  • Lily signs on to Gabriel's investment opportunity after a three-minute presentation, and Serena effuses that "everyone" in the co-op will sign on hence, since an endorsement from Lily van der Woodsen is "golden." Minus 5.
  • Plus 10 for Blair and Chuck sleeping in the limo and holding hands. And then simultaneously checking their hair at the moment they wake up.
