In a promotional interview for the CW, Brittany Snow dishes on the Gossip Girl character she'll be playing the teenage version of starting tonight in "Valley Girls."
Here's what Brittany has to say about Lily's past, the music and fashion of the 1980s, how she became acclimated to the new role and a whole lot more:

okay, what really got to me was that snow thought that lily in gossip girl was in her early 30th. can't she do the math? if lily is supposed to be that young then she must have been 12 when she gave birth to serena...40 is more likely.

LOL mira, I was thinking exactly the same thing...
Her interview only confirmed my limited first impressions of her. Not the smartest cookie in the jar, that's for sure. I found her overuse of "um" (every 5th word it seemed) to be incredibly annoying and downright distracting...
However, once I saw the episode this morning (on CTV's website in Canada), I liked the spinoff and her acting far better than I thought I would from the preview clips...

The flashbacks are in the 80s, 1983 more specifically.
Lilly then has 17 years. The present is in 2009, so she has 43 years. There is nothing wrong with the math. Kelly Rutherford does look like she has 40 and something...

that what i said. she looks like aroun 40, not 30 like snow said...

I agree with OMFGGaga, saying "um" every two seconds is both irritating AND distracting... but, I have to say, she does a good job with the acting in the actual episode. I find her really pretty and I think that despite the totally obvious difference of her having blue eyes and present Lily having brown eyes, she actually does resemble her a little bit. and Britney? I'm no mathematical genius, but Lily VDW can hardly be in her early 30's. she's a mom to an 18 year old. she aws 17 in the spin off. not that hard to calculate.
but anyways, the episode was okay, not as bad as I thought it would be (judging from the previews we got), but it could have been wayyy better. oh well! let's hope they fix it up...

I like her but, early 30's? lol what about serena's lost brother who is 20 or so?
May 12th, 2009 11:04 AM
that is another thing that dosn't make sense. serenas halfbrother is supposed ton be older then her, yet he apperantley shows up to ask lily and rufus will help so that he can finish his last high school year. how many times did the guy repeat the year??

hey maybe she just didn't want to offend kelly rutherford in case she got the age wrong.

Jess, I think it's probably that..
