To Briar...
Lily met Keith Van Der Woodsen in this ep., but that doesn't mean she marries him anytime too soon. There's still plenty of time for her to be with Owen, Rufus, and the other bajillion men she's been with.
All in all, Chuck was adorable perfection in this episode. I did feel a little bad for Nate only because he was totally blindsided with Blair dumping him, but otherwise I couldn't be happier about it.

I actually LOVED the episode. I've always loved Lilly and the flashback episode was so great. Especially when you realize that guy is probably Serena's dad. How awesome! (I did feel like that other leather wearing guy was just a preamble for Rufus though, i imagine that's how Rufus was as a teenager.)
P.S
does anyone know what that song at the end of the episode was? When she's on the bus?

So glad I have tivo because the flashbacks were a total waste of time. This was the WORST Gossip Girl EVER! Couldn't even get into the show because I was so busy fast forwarding through most of it... What a let down. I could not be more disappointed :( I can only hope the finale is a million times better with a Chuck and Blair reunion.

I surprisingly really liked it. The flashbacks were kind of dumb, but I thought the show handled them well, and the Nate/Blair break up didn't seem forced or random to me. I thought it actually made a lot of sense. I also loved that prom ended with Serena and Blair.
Okay woah,
first off I was not expecting much from this episode. As history has shown (although I cannot exactly remember which series exactly) flashbacks within a series are, let's face it, unnecessary, monotonous, and above all boring (not to mention hard to pull off!). But with the exception of a few choppy ones, Savage and Schwartz pulled off the 80's flashbacks surprisingly well. I adore Carol, I can tell, spin off or no spin off, she's not going to be out of the picture (as Kristen Rhodes or as a new cast member). Snow is a gorgeous Lily, I can't imagine, although I will respect, anyone saying otherwise. With the exception of some dumb movies (Prom Night. *Cough) Snow has been cast in, she's actually not a bad actress. And may I add? Her father is way too good looking...but also a complete ass.
If the spin off happens I will watch it, if and only if it holds my attention. And as for the prom portion, can Blair please get more emotional scenes with Chuck, and less over the top, "Oh, I live in fairytale world!" type scenes? Honestly, Meester deserves better material.
And no way S would've stayed that comfortable in jail. We never once saw her in a cell! I would've liked to see how she handled that. It would've been not only intriguing, but a deeper insight into Serena herself. She hasn't had much to work with lately. That whole Poppy Gabe heist was ridiculous, a filler if you will.

I don't know if this happened to anyone else, but the CW messed up the commercial breaks and so during 2 scenes, there were commercials but then it would flash back to GG for a split second, before going back to commercials. I missed Chuck and Nate talking, and the scene after that that has Lily in it, I think. Thank goodness some kind Canadian soul uploaded Chuck and Nate so I could watch it after the ep. I must say, without that, some plot points, ie the corsage and dress, made little sense. I'll have to watch those parts again after the CW puts the ep up.
I didn't like the flashbacks, so I would give it ***
But Chuck was really cute, so **** (out of 5)

This episode I think was a good lead into the finale drama, and I have to say, I am a little worried that Blair and Chuck won't end up together. They might throw us a curveball like last time and leave us wondering. I just wish that I could know what happens right now! I'm not going to be able to avoid the spoilers, and I'm actually looking forward to them so I can know whether to be sad or not. Hopefully, the writers have realized what we've been waiting for all season and finally giving it too us... And the Blair/Chuck thing better be more than a minute! They really owe us like five episodes worth of amazing Blair and Chuck, but the last two episodes have been better and showing Chuck's love for Blair.
Okay, these are my expectations for tonight's episode, and I don't mind if they are high. One- I WANT CHAIR!!!!! They are meant to be, my God! Chuck should just tell Balir how much he loves her so that they can kiss and be happy together, because I know that they would be if they just gave it another shot. Nate belongs with fake Vanessa, or Vanessa should be with Dan... which would be awesome, by the way, if they did, because that would throw Nate into a tizy. Second, I want the stupid flashbacks to at least have a young, adorably HOT Rufus to make them bearable. Third- Serena better nothave a big performance, because I'm getting pretty sick of her... thought Little J is still my least fav. Fourth- I hope Penelope falls into the punch bowl or she gets her dress caught on something and it rips in front of everyone so that she will wound her pride and expose her of her bitchy ways!!!!!! mwahhhaaaa!!
I had my doubts about this episode. I wasnt really looking forward to the flashbacks. like everyone else, I was just waiting for some really great Chair moments. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the flashbacks. I thought it was interesting to see how Lily grew up and why her relationship with her mom is the way it is. I like that we got something about Serena and Eric's dad.
..As for the Prom, I thought it was incredibly sweet how Chuck wanted to make Blair's prom perfect, especially after ruining (unintentionally) her deb ball. I kind of wish we could have go more insight to how that all came about...i kind of feel like the whole thing was rushed...we didnt see them get ready or anything...idk
I CAN NOT wait until next week's season finale episode...I hope Chuck finally comes to say that he loves Blair...but I have a feeling that there will be some very hot, intense, epic Chair scenes...cant wait!!!

HOW THE FUCK COULD BLAIR BREAK UP WITH NATE?
They are SO good together, it's not even funny.
Especially during prom night too! This is getting way beyond ridiculous.
Fuck you Gossip Girl writers, I hate the storyline. Bring Nate and Blair back together.
Liked:
- Dorota!!! The body-bag comment was priceless... so glad she's back
- I cried when Blair opened the box with the dress - who else but Chuck would orchestrate the ruin of her prom dress to replace it with a Paris-made couture gown of her dreams?
- The look on Chuck's face watching Blair on stage getting her crown was indescribable, and Ed's delivery through that scene was spot-on. Loved that he admitted all this in front of Dan as well as Serena - which given Dan's history, should help move things along LOL
- Blair finally realizing she needs to take life as it is, not as she wants it to be... though I'm terribly sorry for Nate, who seemed admirably able to ignore the growing signs that his girlfriend 'just wasn't that into him'
- Serena and Blair's friendship coming full circle, to a point I feel they'd have been before Serena left town
- Lily and CeCe coming to a realistic detente... Lily's face when her mother hugs her made me cry
- Rufus getting his spine back!
Disliked:
This was NOT an appropriate way to honor the ritual of Senior Prom, especially on GG! I want to see shopping for dresses, guys commiserating over how much they hate these things, Hazel worrying about a date, pre-parties, after-parties... I mean, the set design for the prom looked - from the ONE ariel shot we go - AMAZING... but we never saw it again. Still furious with the producers for handling it so badly and hoping they'll reward us with a Season 2 "prom" special as part of the season pass or DVD, with a full prom ep, or behind the scenes or something.
Oh and the guy who thinks he's dating Carol in the flashbacks is SO awful I cringed with embarassment everytime he was on screen. If this gets picked up please re-cast him...PLEASE.
Bad things resulting from scene splitting:
- Nate/Blair breakup scene deserved more time - wanted to see how they parted ways at the end of the night
- The stairs scene was poignent, but really, the school's queen bees head home right away to eat Ben and Jerry's on the couch?!
- They left in the line about Nate not having the limo, but didn't explain how they got there (unless you'd seen spoiler pics of the carriage, which were cut). Nate's super-short scene with Chuck felt weirdly out of sync with everything.

it was a pretty ok episode, but really sad that B & N broke up, it seemed kind of random and sudden. And Nate didn't act like he cared either, so what was the whole speech about 'I love Blair' blah blah last week all about?
Anyways, Chuck was pretty damn sweet in this episode. And the flashbacks were ok, but they kind of interrupted the storyline, which got really annoying, coz they should've devoted more time to the prom.
OY. can't believe another season is ending! I bet the finale is going to be mostly about Georgina, Poppy, Gabriel, Serena. And B & C's reconciliation. Love Georgina, hope she stays on full-time. Can't wait for the b!tch to be back!

Flashbacks: I actually thought they where pretty good. I loved the character of carol and I though Britney Snow did a great job as Lily. But did anyone else think that the character of Owen was really weird looking??? lol Anyways, I'd totally watch the spin off if they ever actually make it.
Nair Break Up: I so did not see Blair breaking up with Nate right in the middle of the dance and I really felt bad for him. You could tell he was totally blindsided by the break up and plus getting dumped at your senior prom has to be the universally worst place to dump you bf/gf. Not the best timing B!!! But other then that, I can see where Blair is going with the whole Nate was her high school boyfriend thing. Blair will always love Nate because he was her first love and because she has so many great memories with him, but now that high school's over, she's ready to go onwards toward her future and that sometimes means letting go of your past.
Chair scenes: Who can really blame Blair for believing Chuck would try to sabotage her chance at being prom Queen. I mean Chuck hasn't exactly had the best record of putting Blair's feelings and dreams above his own greed and ego (Season one, high society???) Thats why I love this scene because it really shows how much Chuck has grown and how his love for Blair has grown. Just the fact that he'd be willing to sacrifice his own happiness to see Blair happy and successful, even if its not with him, thats the truest form of love. To wants someone else's happiness more then your own is real love and Chuck has finally gotten it. Now all we need is for him to admit it to Blair!!!
Can't wait for the season finale!!!!

thanks to lily this episode was ruined. Let valley girls die!
I felt this episode was too rushed, and there were too many things happening at once. As many have already said, the Nate/Chuck breakup happened too quickly, and there really wasn't enough time for the audience to get their heads around things. Even in the Chair scene where Chuck helps Blair, I thought it was sweet, but again - way, way too rushed. I did however like the flashbacks, even more than I thought I would. Owen was sweet. I could actually watched the spin-off now, even though I previously said I wouldn't.
Unfortunately I have to give this episode 3 stars because of its pace, which prevented there being any major climax. The Nair break-up should have been shocking and drawn out a whole lot more, but there just wasn't any time spent on it.
This epsidoe was awesome! I actually loved it, I thought I was going to hate the flashbacks but they were fun to watch. I'm soo glad that Blair dumped Nate(What goes around comes around haha)
