Gossip Girl Round Table: "The Wrath of Con"

The Gossip Girl Insider staff assembles each Tuesday to analyze the burning questions, classic quotes and memorable moments from the previous evening's episode.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Round Table!

This week's hot Gossip Girl topics from "The Wrath of Con" include memorable lines, stretches of the imagination, and opinions on the caper, the spinoff, and Chair ...

Sound off below or in our Gossip Girl forum after reading our take!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: Georgina's episode-ending proclaimation to Blair: "You can tell Jesus that the bitch is back." Wow. We can't wait to see what the bitch does next week!
Gossip Guy: I loved that the old Blair was back in this episode. I loved when she summed up Georgina's new life: "that is a Carrie Underwood song, not a life choice!"
Mister Meester: This early exchange: Georgina: "The Lord cannot enter the body solely by alcohol." Chuck: That's good, because I prefer to be the one doing the entering." Georgina: "To each his own holy water." These two are great.
2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line?
DANdy: It was getting a little old, that is until Poppy escaping amid Serena's arrest offered a new twist. Now Georgina's on the case while Nate, Blair, and Chuck are joining forces to take Poppy and Gabriel down? I love it!
Mister Meester: Once you get past the absurdity - serious timeline plot holes, Lily sending Rufus dividends the very next day, that moron Poppy pulling off such a scheme in general - I do find it pretty compelling. Just gloss over some of the financial details and appreciate the characters ... it brought us back Georgina, right?
Gossip Guy: Let's leave the crime capers to professionals like Danny Ocean. Did we really need to drag this on for two whole episodes, and what it looks like a third?
Gossip Girl Spoilers: Season Finale, Spinoff Scoop
Below are some Gossip Girl spoilers from E! Online's spoiler Q&A this morning. Here's some scoop on the season finale, as well as the upcoming spinoff series ...
Q: What can you tell us about the Gossip Girl finale?
A: Chuck and Blair! What else is there to say? OK, how about that the spawn of Rufus and Lily will be played by an unknown - extrapolate from that what you will about said spawn's future on the show. Of course, nobody had ever heard of Jessica Szohr before Gossip Girl, and now she's a big star with endorsement deals and everything.
Q: Does Serena do any damage to Gossip Girl when she tries to out her in the finale?
A: No, not really. Gossip Girl escapes Serena's attack relatively unscathed - but then again, nobody effs with Kristen Bell and gets away with it.
Lily VDW
Q: I know it's not really called Lily, but is there anything new to spill on the spinoff?
A: Kelly Rutherford shared an awesome-sounding bit of info on the tentatively titled show: "I just went in recently did a bit of a voice-over, like a Wonder Years kind of thing where I'm looking back on my life. I don't know if they'll use it, but I was able to see some of it, and it looked fantastic." There you have it! Gossip Girl plus Wonder Years equals amazing!
Sneak Preview of "Valley Girls"
We just posted the promo, and now here is a sneak preview of a scene from next week's Gossip Girl episode, "Valley Girls." Back in the '80s, Lily (Brittany Snow) is seen at a Los Angeles club where a band (No Doubt) performs "Stand and Deliver."
Pretty cool. Check it out and tell us what you think ...
Gossip Girl Promo: "Valley Girls"
Below is the first promo for next week's Gossip Girl episode, "Valley Girls."
As we know, Serena ended last night's episode by getting mug shots taken, which should serve as an interesting transition to Lily's wild child, '80s era flashbacks.
Here's our first look at "Valley Girls," in which the prom takes place in the present time, and a whole lot of shenanigans happen in the '80s. Tell us what you think:
Gossip Girl Episode Guide, Pics, Quotes, Music & More
Last night's Gossip Girl, "The Wrath of Con," featured a Ponzi scheme, more lies about money than we can even keep track of, and one really poignant moment.
When Gabriel came clean (we think) and admitted that he and Poppy stole the money, but that she in turn ripped him off and had it all, the gang took action.
By enlisting Georgina Sparks, natch.
Of course, this being the Upper East Side, the plan backfired, landing one of our favorite characters in jail and a couple of relationships turned upside down.
The Weekly Gossip Girl Realism Index
Below are some of New York Magazine's arbitrary, yet humorous and insightful thoughts of last night's Gossip Girl, "The Wrath of Con," with scores assigned.
Comment and add your own ...
Chuck asks for a glass to go with the flask that he brought into his taxi. Plus 3, because cars without stemware are well out of Chuck's realm of experience.
After hatching her plan, how does Lily think it's reasonable to send Rufus his fake dividends the very next day? She knows better than that. Minus 5.
Rufus is too cowardly to ask CeCe for permission to propose, so he asks Eric. Plus 2. Eric totally scoffs at him for it, for his mom is a whore. Plus 5.
How does Georgina's fake character, who supposedly just got into town, manage to meet Poppy Lifton on this same, action-packed day? Minus 5.
G is Back!
Lily says to Serena: "I've been so proud of you lately with Brown and graduation … " Was it not a mere TWO EPISODES ago that Lily was calling Serena was a plane-hopping skank with lacrosstitute tendencies? Minus 3.
We love how Nate Archibald is along for the ride with all the scheming going on, but has no idea what's going on at all at any given point. Plus 2.
We appreciate the emotional stakes created by Nate asking Blair to move in, but Eleanor would never let her. Neither would Cyrus ... or Dorota. Minus 3.
This setup let us down last season, but the great final shot of Nate, Blair, and Chuck on the steps at the end leads us to believe that the gang is going to join forces to tackle evil in a way they could never do alone. Plus 3.
Blake Lively and Leighton Meester: MET Muses
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester kept it fun, playful and gorgeous in a Louis Vuitton dress at the “Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday evening. Talk about colorful!
Meanwhile, co-star Blake Lively showed off a bit of a leg and more in a stunning teal Versace gown (and Chanel Beauté makeup) at the fashion extravaganza.
