This is the best news ever...I really didn't know how that spinoff would have been able to go for longer than a few episodes....I mean really, Lilly is an okay character of Gossip Girl..but not enough to maintain a whole spinoff...
I mean, who cares!!!! We fans are more interested in what happens with Serena...and Dan...and Nate..and Georgina! and CHUCK AND BLAIR!!!!!
Oh and Vanessa definitely needs to be off the show.....she has no storyline! Other than being there to cause some trouble with Serena and Dan's relationship in S1...then being with Nate and then sleeping with Chuck......she's done I think...what else is there for her character-wise?

Don´t get me wrong, i love Lily and she´s an important character of Gossip Girl (though the typical run of the mill audience usually only cares about the young characters)...but a show only for her history would have never paid off.
But i think it´s a pity how many people think Lily doesn´t care or isn´t important to the show, because she is and without her many storylines would never have worked out as they did.

and the 80´s atmosphere is very well done!!
Schawrtz should give more publicity to the spin-off and should not be linked with both gg.

Im not sad for it (in fact it's good news because the flashbacks sucked in the trailers)but im sad because "Georgina" will appear in a fresh new show called MERCY on NBC and she will not be on Gossip Girl no more :(

I really don't give a damn. i find lily's character repulsive at times. ok at best. I hope GG will be better next season!
When they released clips showing "behind the scenes" already, and when they said in interviews they weren't worried too much about making it fit exactly with GG, it set off alarm bells... and I was also disappointed with how Britney Snow chose to portray LIly (or the way she was written). The premise is that LIly gets booted from school and raises hell - then why does she come off like some goody-two-shoes in the promos?
Andrew McCarthy looked dynamite - maybe they'll give him a role on the new Melrose. I miss him... we need him back on TV.
If I were Josh and Stephanie, I'd be spinning off "The van der Bilts" - MORE than sufficient real, meaty plotlines, an established character with broad appeal, and none of the continuity issues a flash-back series creates.
The spin off looked okay, but at least this does give them more time to focus on our current love, GG!

i really wasn't excited about the spin-off and i'm kinda glad it's not happening,because i loved the cast and if the show was going to be as bad as it looked,maybe i wouldn't of liked them as much any more. and as ally says,vanessa should be kicked out.
Hmmm...I don't think the previews we saw will do it justice to what we will see for real. Hoefully the backdoor pilot will blow fans socks off and CW can't refuse!

I am kind of dissapointed but maybe if they cancel this spinoff, they can make a spinoff on Jenny going to boarding school like in the It Girl. I loved those books!
You know what with out the flashback this episode would have Best Episode potential. The flashback of Lily is just so stupid! No one cares about Lily and Rufus! I think they should keep Andrew Mcarthy for gossip Girl as Serena's long lost Dad and have him hook up with Lily. This would be very interesting because I really don't care about rufus, he annoys me and he is too simple for Lily. She needs someone loke Bart again to keep her entertained.
