GG has already been picked up for Season 3 alreaady, curlylove, so no worries for at least another year :)

Schwartz is learning a good lesson right now which he should have learned back in season 3 of the O.C....as soon as he gets lazy/bored with his first project and starts devoting himself more and more to a secondary project, the first one, the one he devoted himself so strongly to in the first place that allowed for the second one, bombs completely. DO NOT KEEP REPEATING THE SAME MISTAKES. GOSSIP GIRL is sucking hard right now, but has potential for redemption, and not by pairing "CHAIR" or "NAIR" or "DARENA" - but with solid, scandalous stories that pay homage to the characters he has established. PERIOD.
they are getting too big for their boots! Why dont they focus on getting their main show back on track instead of turning a flashback into a fastrack to failure series??

I'm neither dissapointed nor apathetic because as much as I like the cast GG fans aren't really interested in Lily's past as we know how it's gonna turn out. I think It was not a good idea from start ....

I'm kind of glad that they're cancelling it. I was not really looking forward to it, and it seems like no one else was either, which made me kind of embarrassed for the cw and Gossip Girl. I figured it was inevitable that the show would flop. It's too bad it's eating up part of prom time, though! I agree that they need to focus on getting some great drama and scandal into the hit show they already have instead of pratically abandoning it for this show which we wouldn't watch. Please, writers, don't let us down! Chuck and Blair getting together would make me VERY VERY happy, but there are more characters on the show than just them! We need meaner characters. In the books, none of them are what anyone would consider nice--they all have awful character flaws, which leads to drama. I love that Chuck is really a sensitive romantic, but too much of that spoils his persona. They should bring more of Nate's druggie-ness and cheating into the show, Serena's party craziness, etc. But I still love GG to death and I'll keep watching it for as long as they keep it on the air.
BTW, does anyone have the link for the canadian promo????

The show was bound for failure anyway. No offense but who cares about lily? She's boring. Even on GG she is boring as hell. But anyway CW sucks. It canceled reaper which is one of the good shows. If anything they should cancel 90210 which is a total waste of slot time. And now the melrose place spin-off? Oh gracious. You know what they should just resurrect all shows. how about a new buffy the vampire slayer? Charmed. etc.
Gossip girl needs to get better because right now it sucks. It just got a little better and then they stick the spin-off stuff.

I think this spinoff is a very bad idea and will be relieved if it gets dropped. Gossip Girl is great as is and the idea of venturing into Lily's past sounds dull and pointless. Better to concentrate on making GG season 3 amazing instead of figuring out how to make this extra show make any sense.
Also, No Doubt's version of Stand and Deliver in the flashback scene is embarrassing- so much for capturing the true 80's underground spirit...

I got excited when I saw Lily's mugshots, but those previews made it look awful. I'm alright with the spin-off being cancelled; I'd rather see the Vampire Diaries. The CW doesn't need an 80's version of the same freaking show. Gossip Girl is great, but then they want the same idea "Rich teens do bad stuff!" in every show... 90210, Privileged, Melrose Place, and Lily.

i didn't really care much for the show to begin with, but to have a piece or an extra extension of gossip girl, eventhough its through lily's teen years, i didn't mind! too bad. i would have at least liked to see a few episodes.

I'm glad. I have no interest in a spinoff about Lily. And I'm annoyed that at least half of the next episode is taken up with half of this spinoff crap. I'd much rather see the prom and the GG characters that we know and love.
its a show about a girl that goes through lots of boyfriends/husbands and ends up single in NYC at 40...we already know the ending so why watch the beginning?

Although slightly intrigued by the spin-off, the few clips played really didn't grab my attention in any way. I thought the dialogue and the glimpse of storyline that I saw dragged, and now it appears as if I wasn't the only one that was of that opinion.

I dont care about Lily and her past its just boring to even think about.
So what happens next with GG since they cancelled the spinoff?
hopefully the 3rd season is with the CHARACTERS and the DRAMA we all LOVE.

I mean its been a considerate amount of time since GG has msgd any gossip to anyone.
And a good maount of time since anyone has msgd any spotted msgs.
I mean do you really think an audience who favors the UES and the life of gllamour money and power will change their minds to a corrupt teenage girl who all she did was travel around with washed up 80's bands?
This is one paradigm shift that will not intaje easily..
Nonethless the news about the spinoff is good and i do hope that the dumb producers never take a stupid decsion like this and keep going on the right track.
