Totally agree, it has too much potential!
The cast, the 80´s,the fashion, the music, the drama...

I am sick of hearing the all the negativity towards this spinoff. I think it's a fantastic idea, and believe that it could garnish more ratings then GG. First of all, you have the amazing Brittany Snow playing Lily, who is quite frankly one of the most interesting characters on GG. Secondly you have one of the friggin poster children from the 80's, Andrew McCarthy. Want to talk about nostaliga factor? Not to mention the oppurtunity for plenty of bands/artists to appear. Quite possibly the most interesting factor, is that unlike GG, there is minimal technology for quick communication. No cell phones and most definatley no internet. The relay of information is going to be a very intersting aspect of the show. I'd much rather watch Lily's escapades with people like Trent Reznor, than Serena fall for idiots like Dan and Gabriel. When it all comes down to it, you can either watch it, and enjoy it or not watch it at all and concern yourself with it. I would hope you'd support it.

I lived in Canada so we got to watch GG last night (Sunday). The episode was good. The past (1983) tied in with what was happening in 2009. The flashbacks did leave room for questions. I think it would be a interesting show. It would be interesting to see a show set in 1983 and not modern

no offence to the hardcore GG fans, but GG is kind of bombing
like you are so quick to trash the spinoff, but GG has been realllyyyy shit for 90% of the season. everyone is out of character or has split personality, there are absolutely ridiculous attention seeking plotlines which fail like omg dan sleeps with a teacher!! bart dies!! love child!! i think the spinoff would've been good for a fresh start...
I couldn't care less. the only show that matters is GG. I just hope for a better season this fall!

To tell you the truth, i'm glad it's cancelled. Why do you want to intertwine two gossip girl shows anyways. The original will always be better. now i don't have to worry about having to watch it (the spinoff, thank God it's over!)

I dont think it would be good thing for the show to have such a spinoff. First, producers, writers and directors would be more focused on the spinoff than on the actual show. Second, if this spinoff turned out to be a hit, i bet they would consider to cut down GG. I agree that GG has been shitty lately, but I think they should put an effort to make GG better instead of creating a new show just because the former is no longer what it used to be.

They just want to REPLACE Gossip Girl. That's the reason for that spinoff. They'll throw a pilot and if it makes the same noise as Gossip Girl did on its first season, they'll cut down GG. The producers know that Gossip Girl is fading, not only because of the lame lastest storylines but also because it wasn't based on a good hook. Even the book writer started a new circle of stories, the same old stories involving rich kids from Manhattan and a gossip website. I guess the producers didn't want to go back there as well and instead they've found a new way to replace Chuck, Blair, Serena, Dan and Nate. I'm a big fan of GG but I REALLY don't think it will have a fourth season. Hope it does, though.

When i mentioned the books, i meant that the writer started a new circle of characters, but with the same old storyline, only replacing Blair, Serena, Dan, Chuck and Nate for new ones.
