Sources close to the Gossip Girl set have sent us the following information on some of the new characters being cast in early Season Three episodes of the show.

The new season is already in the process of being filmed (as we know from the set photos posted earlier today and yesterday), and this offers a little insight on it.

We can't verify the accuracy of the info below, or that these characters won't be changed or edited out in post-production, but our sources are usually pretty accurate.

As we posted yesterday, members of the Gossip Girl cast are officially back to work and filming the third season of the show we love. The premiere is September 14. Summer vacation is clearly a lot longer for us than it is for the cast members themselves!

Oh yeah, it's so on. The cast of Gossip Girl is back in New York and has officially started filming episodes for the third season, which debuts September 14!

While that's a long time away, the New York City setting allows for a lot of quality pictures from the show's set to make their way to us, and then on to you.

Finally! Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester looks fantastic in the new music video for Cobra Starship’s song “Good Girls Go Bad,” and she songs great on it too!

Leighton's appearance in the video and on the track has gotten a lot of publicity lately, and in our opinion at least, the actress sure lives up to all the hype.

Gossip Girl bad boy Ed Westwick celebrated his 22nd birthday with a few rounds of bowling at Lucky Strike Lanes in New York City on Saturday. Sounds like fun!

Ed was accompanied by friends including girlfriend (and co-star) Jessica Szohr. Check out this photo of them arriving and Ed looking like ... well, only Ed can.

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively wore a sexy Robert Cavalli backless dress at the grand opening of the Swarovski Crystallized Concept store on Thursday in New York City.

Asked what kind of career she aspires to, Lively said, “Women I look up to are Annette Bening, Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett ... also, I think Reese Witherspoon has had a really great mixture, some great movies as well as some fun ones.”

Edward William Westwick was born 22 years ago on this day in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. He trained at the National Youth Theatre in London, earned roles in several TV series and films, tried out for Gossip Girl, and the rest is history.

What a joy it has been to watch him as Chuck Bass these past two seasons. No matter who your favorite couple is, it's tough to dispute Ed's awesomeness.

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester and boyfriend / co-star Sebastian Stan are said to be engaged, according to a report in the New York Post this afternoon.

A source close to the actress said that Leighton and Sebastian made the announcement on their "secret" Facebook pages. This has not been confirmed.

Meester and Stan have been dating since they met on the set of Gossip Girl last year. Sebastian plays recurring character Carter Baizen on the series.

A rep for Leighton Meester had "no comment" on the engagement rumors.

Are Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan engaged?

No one in her camp has issued any statement on the Leighton Meester sex tape - allegedly made when she was 18, a few years ago - to this point, either.

We'll see if this engagement rumor turns out to be true, although we do have our doubts, as similar stories have been reported multiple times before.

If it's true, though, congrats to Leighton and Sebastian!

And we thought Nate was privileged before.

EW sources confirm that Joanna Garcia, star of The CW's Privileged (which was cancelled, to the surprise of some fans) has booked a four-episode story arc on Gossip Girl as a love interest for Chace Crawford's affluent alter ego, Nate Archibald.

Joanna Garcia will be playing the character of Bree Buckley, an irreverent, slightly evil Miss America-type who hails from a conservative Southern family.

She will first appear in the September 14 season premiere. Any predictions for what this means for Nate? How about the rest of the Gossip Girl gang?
