News that Hilary Duff is coming to Gossip Girl this fall certainly caused a stir - and a mixed bag of strong reactions - when we posted it on Wednesday afternoon.
On Gossip Girl, Hilary will play a movie star (typecasting lives!) named Olivia Burke who seeks a traditional college life and ends up rooming with Vanessa at NYU.
Soon enough, she'll emerge as a love interest for Dan (Penn Badgley). Dan's last love interest was Rachel Carr (Laura Breckenridge), who was pretty unpopular.
Will Olivia meet a similar fate with fans?

I would really like it if Dan got a solid love interest that he got to be happy with for more than a few episodes.(Other than Serena) I guess that isn't happening anytime soon.

Really? Hilary Duff? Was there no one else available? For god's sake, even Lindsay Lohan can act better than this girl.

I don't know how I feel about this. I don't love Hilary Duff but I don't hate her either. I just hope she doesn't messed up the show that I absolutely love. We will see how she does soon enough, hopefully I'm wrong and she is wonderful but part of me thinks she isn't going to be a fan favorite.

omg hillary duff? c'mon, even the FAMILY CHANNEL let her go.... it's a sign.... get her off the show... she'll ruin it.... poor dan, i take pity... and i really don't like dan.... but hillary duff.... poor guy

It maybe be interesting to see Dan with somebody else than Serena or Miss Carr. I want his character to develop like other characters and if Hillary Duff can act semi-good with a good script, I don't see the problem.
