I don't think it's hot, but i really don't think it'll be the worst thing either. I mean, we'll have to give it a shot and then judge, it's not like we can change who they cast.

They look pretty together, but the pairing itself is what made me vote WTF. (If that makes sense.) Really, they look nice next to each other.
she has a similar look to blake lively. maybe they are trying to establish dan's 'type'. the type of stuff hillary duff does is way out of my demographic so i have no idea what kind of actress she is. i am interested to see how the story line pans out.
I have no problem with Hilary Duff, I actually like her a lot, but I feel like as long as she is guest character their relationship won't go any where. I think the main reason Chair is popular and Derena and even Serenate is because none of those characters are going anywhere, they will always be the main characters of the show. And if Olivia is just going to be in 5 or 6 episodes, I don't feel like giving it a chance, because on top of everything I know she is going to be gone in a few episodes. Aside from that, I am quite a major fan of Dan and Serena getting back together, so.
I love Dan and really want to see him with a new chick, but I could care less about Hilary Duff. As long as she doesn't take away from the rest of the gang though, I'm fine with her.
They should have gotten a brown haired or black haired girl for this part... and Nate's love interest could be blonde. (But hey, he looks good with any color woman.)

Regarding her popularity, it will depend on 2 things:
1. Her chemistry with the cast.
2. The amount and type of scandal she brings vs her personality.
These 2 things were also what caused Ms Carr's character to be unpopular. Her interactions with the cast always felt off and forced. Plus, her scandal was both, creepy (relationship with Dan) and what amounted to a grown adult throwing a tantrum (revenge against Blair).

I want Dan to be in solid relationship with someone other than Serena but only for two reasons. 1) to give him an interesting storyline and 2) so he realizes that he's still in love with Serena. Rufus and Lily can't last when Keith comes back...and I hope he does!
