It's official. Hilary Duff is joining Gossip Girl for a multi-episode arc - as a new roommate for one of our favorite characters and a love interest for another!
The actress-designer-pop singer will be playing Olivia Burke, a movie star who enrolls at New York University in search of a traditional college experience.
She will room with Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) so it's safe to say she'll be majoring in Drama! Sorry, that was EW's line, but it was too good not to steal.
Olivia just wants to date a normal guy. Lucky for her, Dan doesn't know who she is and wants to hook up with her. Oooh. Get ready for some Dolivia!
Hilary Duff will debut on Gossip Girl in this season's fourth episode, October 5.
Gossip Girl producers spotted an opening in the 21-year-old star's schedule after NBC elected to pass on her comedy pilot, entitled Barely Legal.

Not sure how I feel about this. Probably cause i'm a hard core Dan and Serena advocate. I don't think Serena will enjoy this union.

I don't like Hilary either. I am not excited for this at all. If she ends up with Dan that's fine, but it doesn't sound like an interesting storyline. But I guess as long as CHAIR is still on...that's fine.

GAH! I don't like her. This seems kind of cheap and commercial to me. No problems with the character, just the actress.

What's funny is that the Dan/Serena romance didn't even last for the first book! I, too, however, want it to be Dan and Serena again... But I guess now they're brother and sister...

Seriously, saying that I love her is putting it lightly! Two of my fav things together!!!!!! The Duffster and GG!!!!! Ugh I cannot wait!

I am so so mad!! I can't believe they selected HER. The GG cast is so fresh, unique, and absolutely stunning in their own way. Hilary Duff is none of those. She doesn't fit in. Ugh, as long as she doesn't do anything with Nate and Chuck, I think I can bear with it. But I am still very very disappointed with the GG casting people.
