"How to Succeed in Bassness" Promo
As the dust settles from last night's scheme-fest, below is the first CW promo for "How to Succeed in Bassness," next week's all-new episode of Gossip Girl.
It's Halloween, and Chuck is opening up his new club, but it looks like Blair is not invited. Ouch. Hopefully these two can patch things up before too long.
Meanwhile, Dan may or may not see an Olivia sex tape (of sorts).
Gulp. Check out the promo and see what you think ...

What is Lizzie McGuire doing???? OMFG!!!
I decided to be cautious with GG trailers now, because after watching the full episode, I'm always disappointed.
Btw, Gossip Girl got less than 2 million of viewers for "Enough about Eve" last night.

Yeah, but none of that was revealed by Vanessa. Blair just says "including lying to Chuck...". So for what lie does Chuck think he's punishing her? Allowing this guy to kiss him? If she hadn't come out and said "Hey! I was lying to Chuck!", the incident wouldn't even seem all that strange for the two of them! The point is, he already knows that there's more to the story and that she's using their game to target Josh. Does it matter so much why that is?
The writers should have had Blair and Chuck plotting this thing together, and the way it backfired on Blair should have been that she has to worry about whether Chuck might actually be interested in Josh. Let her see them together talking closely, and drive herself insane with jealous worries. Instead, it came off as gimmicky, and then Blair is publicly humiliated because she wants to give this speech so damn badly. Where's the crime in that? Meanwhile, Vanessa actually does lie and scheme repeatedly, in ways that could really hurt her friends, and in the end it's no biggie. Pathetic!
The fish out of water storyline was natural for Blair, but the writers are just trashing it. Everything is ham-handed caricature. The Blair we've known all this time is a master of the small knives. The whole "OMG Vanessa secretly taped me!" story is also beyond dumb. We've had it THREE times now, remember? This one is the idiot imitation of the others.

Lulu--
The point is that Blair wasn't trying to use the kiss against Josh. He wanted a kiss from Chuck Bass to check off some scavenger hunt list. She told Chuck they were playing their little game from the summer, but really Blair was setting him up and pimping him out to Josh. Blair not only lied to Chuck, but used him as a pawn to get what she wanted. Sadly, if she had just told him the truth, he probably still would have done it for her. With her actions, Blair showed Chuck that she's willing to play him to get something she values more: a stupid Freshman Toast that nobody is going to remember. Ouch.

This is so ridiculous. This is not the kind of Chuck/Blair drama we need. I find it absurd that her behavior is being trumped up into some kind of Big Lie that would push him away. Nonsense! She told him that she wanted to mess with this guy because he took her speech away. Chuck is not an idiot. The minute they're caught kissing by Blair, he knows she could use that against the guy. I assumed it was obvious just from that scene, what she was trying to do, and that Chuck grasped it completely. Writers, that sucked.
