Overall, Ed is a great actor and Chuck is a great character.

Yes, someway these two things are connected BUT the creators of the GG are decided to lead the different line. So yes, in the book, Chuck was gay but don't forget that in book he was totally different person and he wasn't having a love story with Blair.
