quick question, well something to ponder.
in the pilot episode chuck says that he should inform his 'parents' that they are serving a minor (referring to serena drinking at the palace, his fathers hotel, bar) but his mother died when he was 7 or whatever right? so why would he say 'parents' when he only has a dad who clearly doesnt a wife because he sleeps around with 24 year old models therefore wouldnt be referring to a step mother either.
Actually the episode where he mentions his mother to Nate ("...Dad's Viagra... or my mom's Paxil?") and to Serena in the hotel bar is the Pilot. A pilot is like the "test" show, and it's pretty common for plots and characters and actors to be switched when the show goes into regular production. If you notice, Blair's mother in the pilot is a different person from the rest of the series. Similarly, for some reason they decided it worked better for Chuck to not have a mother around. And in fact, she died giving birth to him - see "The Serena Also Rises". Later, Chuck, upon realizing Dan is using his life as the basis for a lighly-fictionalized story, tries to tell Dan that he made up the story of his mom dying while giving birth to him, and instead claims that she died in a plane crash when he was 7. But it seems she did die in childbirth, since several episodes later, in "Bonfire of the Vanity", his Dad reads Dan's short story and apologizes to Chuck saying "I never blamed you for your mother's death" - which he wouldn't have to say if she died in a plane crash.
Chuck is 17, so Bart's wife died 17 years ago. In the photo of her on Chuck's dresser (in some background shots - directly shown in "Bonfire" - she appears to be in her early 30's, but it's difficult to say. I don't read the books, but I've never heard her name mentioned or anything else about her on the show. However, it's safe to say it's much easier to understand Chuck's TV character when there's no mother around and a distant father. (I understand in the books Chuck is quite different.) Chuck Bass may be gay in the books, but it would definitely be a waste to cast Ed Westwick for a gay role besides it is way more interesting for the storyline to have him straight. I'm glad they switched the gay role for Eric Van Der Woodsen. Though, I think it would be even better if Nate turned out to be gay.

SEASON 2 FINALE:
okay. well we all just finished watching the new gossip girl episode* (unless you live in canada)
"The Goodbye Gossip Girl" and i have to say, what an episode!
first off..noone, not even S can try and start a war with gossip girl and get away with it. As we just witnessed. good luck next year s. although she might be a bit busy after the surprising evidence she just found out about her unknown father. actually alot of our friends might be busy with thier new and improved college lives..for instance.. a certain B and C!
sightings: C and B flirting on MADISON outside of C's cab..looks likes all of his roaming around EUROPE was for someone special(; N and V shopping for backpacking and camping items. looks like N's in for a fun pre-college experience. D a.k.a. lonley boy talking to a suspicious new boy who from the looks of it has transfered from BU to NYC. also, S jumping in the back of a limo with a certain someone who looked like he was showing S some important papers..
