haha. I love how the guy in the first video says, "Chuck Bass? That's his actual name?" because I personally thought when I first started watched the show that it was an unusual name. And I liked how the guy also said, "That's not his name! It's Lance Bass."
Hilary Duff seems too "nice" to play a bad girl, and because of the way her "girl next door" appearance was greatly promoted for such a long time, it'll be difficult to imagine her changing that...however she is older now, and her recent media clips reflect the change of how she wants to present herself. Yet at the same time audiences (both fans and haters alike) will probably be very critical of her acting performance and compare it to the way she was.
Us Chair fans never expected their relationship to be smooth sailing - but Chuck and Blair love each other, and although they'll have a hell of a job fighting against the things that threaten to break them up ie Georgina, they've already been through so much. So, given all their past, they theoretically should stay together in the future, and they shouldn't just give up so easily on what they've been wanting for so long. (But that won't stop the writers!)
I am looking forward to seeing what the writers do with their relationship though eg. having a funny quarreling scene between Chuck and Blair but at the same, the audience can tell that they both madly love each other to really care what they're fighting about!! : )
As much as I don't deny enjoying this episode, it definitely wasn't a favourite of mine. I was waiting for the explosive Chuck and Blair reunion, but instead it felt like the writers were forced to cut back on giving the scene any real depth. Yes, it was sweet how Chuck went to all those places in Europe for Blair, and everything about the scene was suggesting a perfect ending (even Gossip Girl's voice was unusually nice), but I felt it was just a little too sweet. For one, Chuck quickly overlooked the Jack and Blair encounter as if it never happened.
Chuck and Blair are characters that have both had their dealings with the dark side, so I thought the scene would take on a more deeply emotional, heart wrenching ending to make any and every gossip girl fan alike cry - just the kind of atmosphere that was established when Chuck and Blair told each other they should wait, and when Chuck told Serena that he loved Blair etc., because quite frankly their love story won't be a sweet, smooth sailing one, and it never was to begin with. (More so, a passionate forbidden/impossible love undertone)
However, the writers did satisfy all Chair fans, and the Chair union was made. So for that I can't complain. I only look forward to more Chair moments, especially now that Chuck has said those 3 words and eight letters to Blair. I just hope that there won't be any long gaps between episodes. That was awful!!! I also look forward to seeing how Lily and Rufus's love child will be introduced into the Gossip Girl world, and if he'll date any of them. That is also very exciting, and one of the highlights of the episode in my opinion!! : )
I felt this episode was too rushed, and there were too many things happening at once. As many have already said, the Nate/Chuck breakup happened too quickly, and there really wasn't enough time for the audience to get their heads around things. Even in the Chair scene where Chuck helps Blair, I thought it was sweet, but again - way, way too rushed. I did however like the flashbacks, even more than I thought I would. Owen was sweet. I could actually watched the spin-off now, even though I previously said I wouldn't.
Unfortunately I have to give this episode 3 stars because of its pace, which prevented there being any major climax. The Nair break-up should have been shocking and drawn out a whole lot more, but there just wasn't any time spent on it.
Although slightly intrigued by the spin-off, the few clips played really didn't grab my attention in any way. I thought the dialogue and the glimpse of storyline that I saw dragged, and now it appears as if I wasn't the only one that was of that opinion.
So, I prepared myself for watching this episode, not expecting much. The last few haven't been GG's finest, and to be honest with you, I wasn't really looking forward to it...however...
I absolutely LOVED this episode. I thought the scriptwriter's were back to their usual brilliance, the delivery of the lines was perfect, and Taylor Momen produced her best acting moments. That scene with Chuck was *oh snap* awesome! I watched it twice it was so good! The direction/shots complemented the script beautifully, especially illustrated in the Waldorf dinner scene.
Also - I am admittedly a Chair fan, but by watching this episode, I warmed to the Nair relationship. Chuck needed that wakeup call from Jenny because quite frankly, I am sick of his old ways. Nate's character is usually quite weak, so it was good to see him stand up for himself and be so bold too. I never thought I would say this, but I can understand why there are Nair fans out there. This episode showed me a lot, and mainly reminded me of why I love Gossip Girl so much.
If this isn't a photo of a dream sequence, is really significant because Chuck and Blair were always concerned about how their relationship would look from a public perspective, thus all the places they were ever "together" were always secretive/protected.
Remember Chuck's speech..."Think about it...Chuck and Blair going to the movies, Chuck and Blair holding hands." They felt they couldn't go public.
Yet, now here they are, kissing in a public area! They are bound to get spotted. So this is either a dream (reflecting not only Blair's ideal situation with Chuck, but also how they are public and unafraid), or it is real, and they are declaring their love to the world!
I really hope there's a massive climax leading up to the reunion of Chair, and Blair makes Chuck work for it...no easy surrendering from Blair, like she did in those "who can say I love you" games! He's got to say those words, and do EVERYTHING and beyond to convince Blair that they should get back together. I also want Chuck to eventually feel like he's lost her.
He says those 3 words, but she still rejects him (even though you can see it in her eyes that she wants him, but of course feels hurt from his rejection of her) and Chuck has a look of utter anguish on his face when she does so.
And then perhaps the kissing Chuck scene is a dream sequence of Blair imagining what it would be like if Nate were Chuck, clarifying the fact that even though she rejected him to his face, she really, really wants him, and nobody else! Thus, their reunion is formed! : )
Blair is with Nate (smiling for image wise, but really wanting Chuck), and is thus imagining Chuck, and how much more wonderful it would be if he were replacing Nate.
Mouse, I think that although Rufus would know that he had that option of Lily helping him, he wouldn't want that shame of asking her, especially when he has provided for himself and his kids for so long. If he accepted her money, he would have that massive obligation hanging over his head, and would probably always feel bad about it.
Nate: I'm through with Blair. This new phase she's going through is too much for me. I want someone I can always rely on...Penelope... Hazel: Why are you speaking to us? Do we look like Penelope's parents or something? Nate: No. I would have preferred to speak to Penelope alone, but you girls are practically attached at the hip. Penelope: (Thinking) I hope Blair is getting a good view of all this.
"kill the nanny and play fast forward to the chair scenes!" Love it, and totally agree.
Miss Dior, that is a real generalisation by saying that Chair fans are all rude and don't respect other fans. If you supposedly stopped liking the couple because of the fans, then you probably never liked them that much to begin with. You can't blame your dislike for Chair on the fans, because we're not all "rude and disrespectful".
And about Serena going to Brown. She reminds me of a Forrest Gump type character, where everything just falls into place for them, no matter what they do. She's just lucky like that.
The whole "Nate wanting Blair to move in with him" seems a little random, and why now? Nate knew about Chuck and Blair's "relationship" ages ago. It's not as if he tried to stop it, or was in any way jealous of Chuck.
I like the fact that Chuck and Blair join forces, but for how long? Serena and Chuck also join forces because Blair is supposedly losing control.
Lastly - what are the writer's hoping to achieve with this stupid Elle storyline? She's gone after 3 episodes, so let her go, and let Chuck gladly get over her! He doesn't love her. I hope Chuck catches Elle with another guy or something, to help him let go of this crazy obsession with her!
They are trying to draw out the Chair relationship out as much as they can with all these filler complications! Hopefully not the the point where the people that want them to get back together eventually lose interest. Also, the whole 40+ day gap between episodes is just cruel.
The whole "Blair and Dan" idea that people are introducing would break the whole Blair despising Dan reality...unless: - The writer's twisted the storyline around, to make it that Blair's hatred towards Dan was an act. - Something happens where Dan saves/helps Blair in a big way, and she softens towards him.
If Serena knew about them, she wouldn't be able to fully get over it, and even if Dan and Blair got together, it would be a fleeting moment that both would want to hide: from Serena, and especially from GG. Can you imagine Blair's reputation after it? If Blair and Chuck can't be together, and they're from the same high social status, Dan is below them in the hierarchy of the teenagers, and a relationship between Blair and Dan is thus highly, highly unlikely.
Firstly - I agree with everyone about Chuck's hair. As soon as I saw him in "Summer Kind of Wonderful" I was like "What the heck have you done to your hair??!!" Although I thought it was done to make him look more responsible, the change came at the start of season 2, when he was finding it hard to commit to Blair. So, perhaps it was purely a GG hair department change and they wanted a new look for Chuck.
Also, yes suenue...who is that guy following Carter? Perhaps he has some connection to Elle, like eg. he is part of that club Bart Bass was, and is keeping an eye on Elle in case she reveals any information or something?
