Now I thought I'd start this thread just out of my sheer confusion over people opinions of what they want or wanted from chair. There has been so many contradictory post that it has led me personally to beleive that people dont know what they want or what they were expecting from the relationship.
I mean last season the major majority of fans were harping on about how chuck needs to get his act together and be with blair and stop treating her horribly because she doesnt deserve it and they both deserve to be happy. Now this season the majority of the posts seem to be about how Chair are too sweet and their not the same anymore. People were saying a lot last season that they want to see chuck fight for blair and support her like she did through his grief ordeal, yet when he has done so this season people are pissed off that he is to perfect and that blair should be the better girlfriend.
Look I am not above admitting that their are faults in the chair relationship. I think they have lost the sexual passion which was a huge part of the dynamic and I also think that we missed out on a lot in terms of watching them grow as a couple but not seeing the early stages of their relationship due to the three month break between the ILU and now. But I rationalise that this is most likely due to chair not be front and centre as they were in season two. If ou look at them now they are the filler or the sub plot of most episodes so I dont think the writers feel the need to utilise them as much as they seem pretty focused on exploring the other characters story line (nate + vanderbilts, the humpreys entry to the uppereast side). And as much of a chair fan as I am I can understand the logic in that as I think a lot of the characters were put in the background last season to accomodate chair. Prehaps it is only fair!
IMO i feel that too many fans placed far to higher expectations on the relationship over hyping it to the point that what ever the writers did with the relationship it was always bound to fall a little flat in some people eyes.
Im not trying to judge anybody on here so I apologise in advance if I have offended anyone I really just want it cleared up so that I dont get confused by people responses anymore.
So tell me guys when you were waiting for chair to happen, what kind of relastionship did you see them in? What were you expecting? How did you envision them interacting?

i love you. i really dont get this, last season a lot of people complaining how chuck is immature and didnt deserve blair, and now that he is being a good boyfriend people is complaining too?

EXACTLY. what is missing for them, IMO, is a big s/l as a couple. their relationship is not anymore the front of the show, it went to the background. i think that's what people is missing. i hope with bart and jack coming back they get a real s/l as a couple

ok well the whole thing is that last season chuck needed to step up and do what the fans had been waiting 2 whole years for. and finally when he did it was amazing. but i think i speak for most chair fans when i say that the writers are not living up to the potential that chuck and blair are capable of. simply sleeping in eachothers arms every night is not enough for this dynamic duo. they should be out scheming together in a way that shows just how much their personalities reflect one another. so basically to sum it up...its not hot enough. they should be fighting for one another with every breathe that they have. knowing that at any moment, it could be over. i was really looking forward to some classic chuck bass lines and blairs hissy fits over how disgusting he is, but in a loving, joking kind of way.

that i agree, i still love them but i think they have so much more potential, but like thanya said i think it's because their relationship is more being used as fillers, they are not more the front of the show and dont have a big s/l as a couple. let's hope with jack and bart coming back things change

I agree with the people who have said that the wanna see more hotness and more schemeing with chair, I want to see that too for sure! That so far seems to be the big sticking point for people. But I think we saw a little of the old blair and chuck in the 3.07 in terms of embracing their evil schemeing sides.
Like i said im happy to admit that in terms of the intensity between these two in season 1+2 and now that it has been taking down notches but again I think it is due to them being in the background in terms of their actual relationship storyline. I always like to look back to that three part Josh Safran interview where he said in an anwser that the reason you dont see a lot of Eric and his Boyfriend as the focus in the show is that if they did they would always have to create drama in the relationship but by being in the background they are free to give the couple a healthy stable relationship. Now that what I think they are doing with Chair for the time being- allowing them to have a happy relationship in the background which frees their time up to focus on other storylines and other characters. That the best explation I can come up with and I guess that makes some fans happy others less so LOL.
