seeying the pictures with serena while she's bidding at the back of the room,, the next where Blair and Chuck are looking shocked at something behind them,, and them looking kinda pissed and worried while they're bidding I am guessing Serena and Chuck/Blair are bidding against eachother... Its a painting there at an auction, what else do you bid on there. And from the Serena picture it think she walks in at the end and bids on it.

Hmm.. judging from what I've read before, that Serena and Chuck have a low point, and judging also by Blair's "i'm nervous cause i think serena is about to outstand me here" face. and then the picture of everyone staring at the back of the room and serena up in there making a bid sure nobody expected. or maybe.. serena comes and saves them. who knows?
