Tuesday A.M. Gossip Girl Reality Index Time!

Below are some excerpts from New York Magazine's reality index of last night's Gossip Girl, a column we post and link to each Tuesday that's not to be missed.

We posted our official episode recap of "The Grandfather: Part II." Now, some highlights from NY Magazine's quite nonsensical, yet quite thorough analysis:

  • They timed this well with Election Day. Plus 1. And votes do change on stupid sh!t like a saved life, though usually the opposite happens, like a secret family, or slashing someone in the face with a broken water glass. Plus 1.
  • After all the buildup, Olivia's Jimmy Fallon appearance was so totally not that bad. It wasn't even bad at all.The way everyone was carrying on about "Bathroom Boy," we assumed Dan was into golden showers. Minus 10.
  • Serena, on Patrick's trying out for a role: "Ryan [Phillippe] totally lost his mojo after Reese got with Jake." When you're right, you're just right. Plus 1.
  • PR Rule No. 1, KC says, is "My PR network is my only value." Really it's "SEND AS MANY ALL-CAPS E-MAILS TO STRANGERS AS POSSIBLE." Minus 3.

Future NYU Queen

  • Evidence of shark-jumping ahead: Promos for "OM3"; and Leighton Meester's video, which is beneath her and horrible on many levels. Minus (OM)3.
  • Serena says she's not a prostitute, then decides to knock back a few in a hotel bar with a married man who says he "would love to have someone to sit with, not talking about politics, not talking about anything." Plus 2.
  • You would never meet a NY1 producer at Cafeteria. Minus 3.
  • Patrick wears skimpy boxer briefs, drinking Jack Daniel's from the $7.89 flask. Plus 2 for the reality of the JD, and for the view that came with the undies.
  • Serena asks a man: "Let me guess, you want to go upstairs and see if two blondes make a right?" Great line, but S would never think of that. Minus 2.
  • As Olivia answers the door, she's wearing a T-shirt, because it's the morning. Serena, on the other hand, is in sequins, tie-dye, and makeup. Plus 1.

First Promo: "They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?"

O.M.3.

Below is the first Gossip Girl promo for next week's episode, curiously titled "They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?" If you hadn't guessed, it's threesome time.

We've talked at length and posted a theory, through various clues and the process of elimination, of who's going to be involved in the Gossip Girl threesome.

The promo here doesn't give away much, or offer anything we don't know, but it does make us excited for the episode. See what you think and comment ...

Gossip Girl Episode Recap: "The Grandfather: Part II"

Monday night's Gossip Girl featured an intriguing political plot line, along with some vintage cattiness and backstabbing from our favorite pair of frenemies.

With the polls too close to call on Election Day, someone set Nate's cousin up to save a drowning man to make him look like a hero in his bid for Congress.

But when the plot is exposed (by Vanessa, obvs) it's up to Nate to take the fall to save Tripp's bid to represent Manhattan in Washington, D.C. It worked!

Meanwhile, Serena and Blair are going at it like never before, trying to one-up each other at the election party. It ends with Blair's fake shoved in a cake.

Elsewhere, Dan and Olivia hit another hurdle as she told an embarrassing story about him on Late Night. But Dan was more concerned with other things.

For all the details on "The Grandfather: Part II," here's our episode guide!

Gossip Girl Forum: "The Grandfather: Part II"

Chuck and Blair may have gotten back on track last week on Gossip Girl, but she and Serena had yet another falling out. The battle lines are clearly drawn.

How will that play out at an election party for Nate's cousin Tripp? What will Nate's family do to get Tripp elected? What does Olivia say that she regrets?

We'll find out all that and more tonight in "The Grandfather: Part II," a play on last season's "The Grandfather," itself a play on The Godfather movies.

We've seen some previews and promos, browsed through a photo gallery and read plenty of spoilers. All that's left for us to do is watch and discuss!

Blake Lively Hearts Serena van der Woodsen Fashion

In real life, Blake Lively may not be very similar to Upper East Side vixen Serena van der Woodsen. Well, except for her Gossip Girl alter ego's style.

“I dress just like Serena!” Blake admits in the November issue of Nylon magazine. “I own half her wardrobe, so it’s far too similar to how I dress!”

“I feel ridiculous at times with her, because I’m, you know, killing someone or marrying someone, but I look like me. I’m like, ‘Oh, this is absurd.’”

Having her Gossip Girl fashion mesh so seamlessly with her personal signature style, however, isn’t something that happens with most of her roles.

Blake Lively and Serena both look amazing.

“When I’m doing a movie, I hide behind the character’s hair or makeup or clothes. If I can transform myself, then people will believe that’s who that is," says the 22-year-old Blake. "And I need to believe that’s who that is.”

One fringe benefit of trying out a persona? Getting in new products that she might not try on herself, including her latest beauty obsession which she picked up on the set of her next movie, The Town: press-on nails.

“They’re really amazing,” she says.

Leighton Meester Teams Up with Weezer

Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester is also an aspiring singer, as we know.

To that end, the good girl gone bad joined Weezer on stage during their Halloween concert at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Halloween Night Saturday.

Leighton helped Rivers Cuomo sing Weezer’s new single “(If You’re Wondering if I Want You To) I Want You To.” Nat Wolff of the Naked Brothers Band also joined!

Happy Birthday, Penn Badgley!

All of us at Gossip Girl Insider would like to wish a happy birthday to cast member Penn Badgley, who turns 23 today on this first day of November.

We hear that Penn may be getting engaged soon (and we all know to whom). That would be the cutest thing ever for the Gossip Girl lovebirds.

Either way, we love him as Dan Humphrey and hope his special day rocks ...

Penn Rocks!

Penn out Thursday at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame party in NYC.

In honor of the big day, as we do for all our cast members, here's a little tribute of Penn Badgley pictures, one for each of his 23 years. Happy birthday, Penn!

Leona Lewis Turns Down Chace Crawford Kiss

Sorry, Chace Crawford. Even you don't stand a chance with Leona Lewis.

The singer turned down a chance to kiss the Gossip Girl hunk when he appeared in her latest video because it might make her beau, Lou Al-Chamaa, jealous.

"They wanted me and Chace to kiss in the 'I Will Be' video. But I said no way," she tells the U.K magazine Sugar, adding that Chace is just not her type.

"He needs roughing up a bit! He'd be a really pretty girl … He's so beautiful, I mean, look at him," she says. "But I just don't think of him like that."

"But mostly it wouldn't be fair to Lou to kiss other guys."

Lewis, 24, has been with her boyfriend since she was 17, and known him even longer. She says that at age 10, she thought her neighbor was "sooo cute."

She still does.

The singer, who recently defended her relationship with the electrician, says she loves his eyes, and teases: "Sometimes I'll look at him and be like, 'You have really nice eyelashes, can I put mascara on them?'"

Maybe having her kiss Chace wouldn't be so bad after all.
