Blake Lively recently spoke openly about the influence America Ferrera has had on her young career.
These two actresses starred together in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
"She's a mother to me," Lively said. "When I decided I was going to move to New York for [Gossip Girl], she sat down with me. I knew I wanted to live on the West Side, and she said, 'No, you need to live on the East Side because of this, this and this.'
She makes lists of pros and cons about why I shouldn't get another dog. She's like 'This is why you shouldn't get one.' America's always very nurturing with me, which I appreciate very much. She's awesome!"

It's hard to imagine Serena van der Woodsen, Blake Lively's sophisticated, sexy, Upper East Side alter ego, batting a single perfect eyelash over something as trivial as a Broadway musical.
"I'm a huge Rent-head," Lively told Vanity Fair for a recent feature. "I met Adam Pascal the other night and I got all goofy and weird."
Goofy and weird don't cut it in the Gossip Girl milieu. Based on the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar and executive-produced by The OC's Josh Schwartz, the series dwells on a clique of unbelievably attractive Manhattan girls and boys, their rich-kid problems, and their too-rich parents.
It's all a bit rich, but just try prying your daughter away.
It's also a world away from Burbank, where Lively enjoyed a childhood that sounds disturbingly normal for someone with an actor dad, four siblings in the business, and a mom who managed child stars. Lively sang in the high-school choir and, on school-spirit days, dressed head to toe in Bulldog blue and white. She bakes.
She still says, "Oh my gosh."
Her first professional acting job was playing the laser-guided soccer vixen Bridget in 2005's The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The sequel is due out next summer.
So what's her plan for not falling into the young-celebrity rabbit hole, the one monitored by TMZ and littered with undergarments, D.U.I.'s, and the residue from Wilmer Valderrama's hair products?
"You just behave yourself. How about that?"
Blake Lively recently attended the "VIVA LA CURE" Benefit for EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund.
The Women's Cancer Research Fund, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, was established to support innovative research, education, and outreach for the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all women's cancers.
It's very nice to see this Gossip Girl star having her priorities in order.

"It is a crazy and completely insane business. I'll go to an event wearing some designer gown and tens of thousands of dollars in jewels that were lent to me for the night, and I'll walk around and meet people who I always thought were such a big deal...
Stars really are like anyone else. At the end of the day, Brad Pitt poops - as handsome as he may be - and so does Angelina Jolie. I'm still baffled by how odd this job is."
On Hollywood's "bad girls":
"I think some people who bash on the girls in Hollywood who are struggling with addiction or going into rehab aren't being totally fair; it's not solely their fault. When you don't have someone to model yourself after, you're going to make mistakes. There's no one there to tell them what's right or wrong or who is a positive example."
On her celebrity childhood crushes:
"As a kid, I had a huge crush on Leonardo DiCaprio and, oh my gosh, Justin Timberlake. They were the two I can really think of just being completely in love with."

Blake Lively took her dog for a walk recently and was joined by pop singer/train wreck Britney Spears.
The Gossip Girl star doesn't look too pleased with Brit, though, does she? Maybe that's because she's treating Lively like one of her kids, completing ignoring the actress.
