That didn’t take long.

After breaking up with American Idol winner Carrie Underwood via text message, Gossip Girl heartthrob Chace Crawford is reportedly rebounding with the show’s newest cast member, Michelle Trachtenberg.

Spies from the New York Post saw Crawford and Michelle Trachtenberg at SoHo hideout Upstairs “flirting heavily” Saturday. Said the onlooker, “They were all over each other. She was drinking a beer and snuggling him.”

What do you think? Would Chace Crawford and Michelle Trachtenberg make a cute couple? Or does she pale in comparison to Carrie?

That’s what Carrie Underwood says, at least - and she’s not crying a river over breaking up with the Gossip Girl hottie.

“We broke up over text, so it’s like ‘peace out,’” Underwood said of breaking up with Chace Crawford during Idol Gives Back.

“It was completely mutual, we’re both fine,” she added, saying they “have not talked in a while, but I don’t dislike him. It’s no big deal.”

Their relationship “just didn’t work,” Carrie Underwood said, “and we both knew it didn’t work and [there are] no hard feelings at all.”

The Chace Crawford-Carrie Underwood relationship was short-lived.

Dating in the public eye is “difficult … because people always make a lot bigger deal of things than they actually are,” she said.

Their split was said to happen because of their busy schedules.

“They couldn’t spend time together,” a source said. “It was hard.”

It’s been a rough few weeks for Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, who broke up with Carrie Underwood and endured online gossip about his sexuality - rumors were swirling that he and pal JC Chasez were gay.

Sister Candice Crawford says Chace is hanging in there.

“He’s doing okay through this whole ordeal,” Candice said. “He was upset about the breakup. It’s always to lose a relationship.”

Still, his little sister added, don’t expect to see Chace Crawford and the fourth season American Idol champion moping around.

“Chace will get through it,” Candice said. “We love [Carrie Underwood] too. They’re dolls and they’ll both do well.”

It’s been a hard month or so for Chace Crawford.

Candice is doing her best to distract her bummed-out brother. Next week, she’ll compete in the Miss USA Pageant.

You can bet Chace Crawford will be there to watch!

“The whole family will be there rooting for me,” Candice Crawford, who was recently crowned Miss Missouri, said.

“My mom made T-shirts and little pins for everyone!”

Chace Crawford and Carrie Underwood recently broke up, and one of the more ridiculous rumors spawned by that fact was that he and friend JC Chasez are, well, more than just friends.

Chasez says it’s simply not the case.

The former NSYNC singer, 31, debunked Internet rumors linking him to the Gossip Girl star, 22, on Kiss-FM 104.7 on Wednesday.

“For the record, we’re both straight,” Chasez said. “We’re not dating.”

JC Chasez — who called Chace Crawford a “super nice guy” — said he understands why some gossip readers may think they’re an item.

“The only time people usually see us together is in some type of photograph, so they just assume that it’s like that,” he said. “If I’m dating a girl and I’m standing next to another girl, I’m having an affair.”

“Since there hasn’t been any of that smoke out there, if I’m hanging out with a guy, they’re going to make up a rumor. It’s just stupid.”

There is a gay character on Gossip Girl, however, and he will be revealed when the show returns.

Could it be Nate Archibald? Wouldn’t that be ironic.

According to numerous celebrity gossip blogs, Carrie Underwood confirmed on the radio this morning that she is no longer dating Chace Crawford.

We can’t officially confirm this, but if you consider that Chace refused to answer the question about the status of his relationship with Carrie at the Paley Center panel discussion for Gossip Girl held last Friday …

Well, that doesn’t prove anything either.

But they haven’t been seen in any pics in a long time. Chace Crawford has spent way more time with his BFF JC Chasez than with Carrie. Oh well! This is certainly good news for you ladies, we guess!

It’s been a little slow on the news front, but at least the cast and crew of Gossip Girl are back in New York City shooting new episodes!

They appear to be stuck in the rain, which is almost certainly fake. Oh well.
