Chace Crawford
We feel a lot like Gossip Girl right now, typing away furiously in order to make sure this rumor spreads across the computer screens of all fans:
According to OK! magazine, Chace Crawford is dating American Idol champion Carrie Underwood. The two were spotted locking lips last Friday at NYC club Marquee.
“They were canoodling all night and stayed until close,” said one witness.

The following evening, the couple was spotted at Mario Batali’s Del Posto restaurant, the Soho Grand and the Rose Bar in the Gramercy Park Hotel. That’s a lot of eating and drinking for one weekend. Should Leighton Meester feel betrayed?
At the Soho Grand, “they held court at their own private table, kissing and not leaving each other’s side,” the source added.

Here’s a look at Chace Crawford, speaking with Seventeen magazine…
Gossip Girl will be happy if it’s around for half as long as the Broadway show, Rent. Or even a quarter as long.
And maybe that’s what Chace Crawford and Leighton Meester were thinking when they attended a recent showing of the classic play.
Here’s a look at the two stars there:

Chace Crawford
Before we tune in for the fourth episode of Gossip Girl tonight, we were excited to come across this interview of Chace Crawford by TV Guide.
Let’s see what the hunk has to say…
TVGuide.com: It’s funny to see this teenage hierarchy in Manhattan, because I live in New York, but I never went to private high school here. Do you think the attitudes and some of the behavior is accurate?
Crawford: There’s definitely some degree of it being what goes into making a television [show], but I think it’s accurate in terms of the family pressure and the social structure of it all. Are there characters like Chuck [Ed Westwick] out there? [Laughs] I don’t really know.
But there are people in that vein of the whole Ryan Phillippe/Cruel Intentions type thing, and it’s great. I think Blair Waldorf [Leighton Meester] is one of the stand-up characters on the show. I’ve talked to some people who say the story is a mirror image of some things that do go on.
TVGuide.com: There are always going to be cliques, so even if it’s taken to an extreme with someone like Chuck, it’s still relatable at times.
Crawford: There are some corruptive individuals out there. I’ve heard that kids do take limos when they’re freshmen, and they’re not chaperoned, the parents are absent. Teenagers aren’t as dumb as everyone thinks. Especially in today’s society — it gets worse in terms of the partying early on. I don’t think it’s too over-the-top in that sense.
TVGuide.com: Now, obviously the biggest storyline is all the romantic turmoil. What can we expect to see between Nate and Serena [Blake Lively]?
Crawford: Ohhh, it’s all unexpected. They’re putting the brakes on that right now. He definitely has issues with Blair and mainly with his father, but I think it’s going to come back full circle. He ultimately loves this girl. He loves both of them, but they represent completely polar opposite things.
He loves Blair, he’s known her for years, but she also represents the negative side to his family, and Serena represents something else. She possesses something he wishes to obtain — not only to be with her, but to have the freedom she has in her life. I think he’s having trouble breaking out of where he is.
TVGuide.com: Will Nate and Dan [Penn Badgley] become friends even though they both have their eye on Serena?
Crawford: I like the possibility [of that]. It’s not going there [right now], but it’s always open. I think it’s going to happen.

Chace Crawford
Chace Crawford recently spoke about his role on Gossip Girl with Prime Time Pulse. Here are a couple excerpts from the interview:
Q: How did you get involved with Gossip Girl then?
CC: Well I switched agents last November and I came back from Christmas and I had a little meeting with my agent to talk about the new upcoming “pilot season.” I got handed a couple of scripts, because I didn’t know which one would work out for me. I saw that Gossip Girl was created by Josh Schwartz, but little did I know how insanely popular this series of books were with younger gals.
The first read I thought Nate was totally attainable for me and something I was interested in. I went in prepared and met with Josh and Stephanie, the director, and casting director, and I guess they liked me. I went in again and again to audition. The key was trying to get Les Moonves, President of CBS, on my side. He was the final check mark in signing me off to play this role. I went in to read about six times.
I shot a few scenes and that was that. It was great. We shot the pilot in March, now doing all of this press, and the show premieres on Wednesday. It’s kinda crazy.
Q: Was there something about the character that you liked or that interested you?
CC: I would like to play a little bit more humor in the future. But for now, Nate has these endearing qualities to him. He makes the right decisions at the end of the day. He’s just a good guy. He always has Chuck over his shoulder, trying to pull him in the wrong direction, though. But it’s pretty cool to play a high school character that you can still relate to the pressures of being conflicted on college choices and being forced to go to his father’s college and the girl situation. It can be too much sometimes.
I think it’s a nice window into the lives of obviously very extraordinary situated teenagers, but these characters are also relatable in certain situations. That is what makes it entertaining. There are some interesting storylines to follow and stories that everyone can relate to.

Chace Crawford
Simply out, Chace Crawford love New York. And need you ask the Gossip Girl star why?
His face is on billboards all over town alongside the rest of the gorgeous cast in this soap set in the exclusive world of upper East Side children of privilege.
The handsome actor portrays Nate Archibald, a latchkey teen with platinum credit cards but who drowns his sorrow in Champagne, pot and limo rides to hot spots. As Crawford jokes: “The research for this show was rough.”
The 22-year-old admits he hung out at certain upscale nightspots a little bit growing up, but knows little about that life; he showed a rough cut of the pilot to the kinds of kids it portrays, and then asked them: “Is this even remotely real?
And they said, ‘Yes, it is.’”
Crawford’s character is at the center of the show’s main triangle, a tug-of-war between onetime BFF’s Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and the mysteriously disappeared and just-returned Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively).
“Nate is definitely conflicted,” says Crawford. “So now I’m working hard on finding a lot of different ways to play conflicted.”
He doesn’t feel as ambivalent about New York City, however, after a childhood living in Plano, Tex. Chace’s mom helped him move into an apartment in Chelsea he shares with fellow cast member Ed Westwick - and Crawford gets to explore the city he fell in love with via the movies.

With the Gossip Girl series premiere in the books, we have a pretty good sense of what Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald are all about.
But how do the actors portraying these roles feel about their alternative personalities? First, Ed Westwick recently pointed out the obvious: Chuck isn’t so nice.
“He seems to be the dark kind of character, who stands out,” said Westwick, in his native British accent, which he hides for the show. “Chuck is the antagonist. He almost seems bored with life at 17. Maybe he’ll be one of those guys whose grades aren’t that good. But he doesn’t need to try. Perhaps he is the wealthiest (of all of the characters).”
Overall, of course, money is vital to this show. It’s at the center of the teens’ existence. And Chace Crawford says shooting on the Upper East Side has been “pretty intense” because “there are padded silk walls and carved gold door hinges in $30 million mansions. It gets sort of ridiculous.”
But not unrealistic.
“I knew some kids at Pepperdine, whose parents were so busy. The parents were flying around and the nannies are out and the kids get this bizarre reality. The parents own hotels and the workers are not going to say no to the kids. These kids take advantage. It’s an absurd reality.”

Chace Crawford
The show might be called Gossip Girl - but one guy has received a great deal of media attention leading into the premiere: Chace Crawford.
He recently spoke to TeenTelevision.com about the gig…
TeenTelevision: How did you come to the project?
Chace: I had a meeting back in January with my television agent and she was like ‘oh, there’s a big script. Josh Schwartz has adapted this’. I read it and thought ‘oh, typical teen stuff but it’s Josh Schwartz. It’s probably going to be a good project’.
TeenTelevision: Was it tough competition for the part?
Chace: The casting process was pretty rigorous. I probably went back like six or seven times. I knew that I was probably in the mix after the first one but sort of winning over Les Moonves (top CBS exec) was another story and I ended up reading with Leighton Meester who had just gotten cast. I think I was third so it was pretty rigorous.
TeenTelevision: Had Les seen your work in The Covenant or anything?
Chace: I don’t know. Maybe he hadn’t. I’m still not sure. I’m pretty new to all of this basically. I’ve only been doing it for like three years so I don’t have a reel or anything. But, they had some good scenes (to audition with). I think ended up doing most of the scenes for everybody when it was all said and done but it’s good.
They need to make sure you’re the right one. It was a learning process going through all that and Leighton was fantastic when I got to read with her and when I met her and the rest of the cast, I knew it could be something good.
TeenTelevision: Were you auditioning for other shows at the same time?
Chace: I was. I really came into it wanting to knock pilot season out of the park and I got really focused and I got test deals for a show called Gravity on The CW which fell through and another show on NBC called Zip but we talked to Josh and he said ‘you’re one of the front runners’ and so we kind of said no to the other ones and focused on this one and it was a good gamble I guess.
It ended up working out. But it was a good problem to have you could say but it was a good pilot season; my third one and by far my best one.

They may be biased sources, but Gossip Girl stars Chace Crawford and Penn Badgley (pictured here in character, as Dan Humphrey) are psyched about the premiere of their new show.
“I love the pilot I was really impressed with everything I mean there’s not a dud aspect of the show. All the actors are phenomenal the show looks unbelievable and sound’s great. The soundtrack is excellent,” Crawford said.
Because Gossip Girl is based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s book, many of the show’s cast members feel pressure to live up to the expectations of the popular novel series. Fortunately, the guidance of Schwartz has made it easier for the cast to identify with the teen drama.
“He’s such a normal cool guy. Josh [Schwartz] is so fun to hangout with. He’s so relaxed and down to earth but he’s hugely successful… He’s the creator of The O.C. and he really knows what he’s doing so it’s really interesting to watch the dynamic on set and how he runs it because he comes from such a pedigree,” Badgley said.
“I think the show is gonna stand out well on its own,” Crawford added.
While you may wish to simply stare at three of Gossip Girl’s main studs - Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley - here’s a chance to actually hear them speak.
The actors talked about the premiere of their show with a reported from The CW recently:
