We've seen just about every combination of Gossip Girl stars filming in the past week or so: Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick playing basketball, Chace and Leighton Meester strolling and smooching, then Ed and Blake Lively chatting it up.

Tempting as it may be to mistake Mr. Edward Westwick for a real-life version of his Gossip Girl alter ego - almost everyone knows by now that he plays the show's now-notorious Chuck Bass - the actor (who simply goes by "Ed") is quick to insist that any similarities between them are purely superficial.

"We look the same," he says, "but that's about it, darling."

Well, that's not quite it.

While Teen Vogue - which profiles the handsome Gossip Girl star in its new issue - will happily concede that the actor, 21, is likely not driven by the same "inner emptiness" and all-consuming "desire for revenge" that he ascribes to his recently orphaned character, Westwick does share some of Chuck Bass sunnier qualities.

For example, that charmingly louche affect.

And just as Chuck's every assignation is faithfully tracked by the show's titular know-it-all narrator, Ed's own rumored make-out sessions (with Drew Barrymore and, lately, co-star Jessica Szohr) serve as fodder for numerous gossip sites.

He's cagey, of course, when it comes to specifics, but his outlook on romance represents another big difference between Chuck and him: "I'm all for being in love," he notes. "Whenever I like someone, I end up pretty much completely smitten."

Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald, they're not.

They're two of the hottest actors around, but a Gossip Girl insider spills to the New York Daily News that roommates / best friends / co-stars Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford aren't living the life of luxury in New York's Chelsea neighborhood.

“It stinks!” a source says of their apartment. “Those boys are slovenly and have garbage and clothes everywhere. You’d think they were living in a frat house!”

Hey, boys will be boys - especially in their own bachelor pad. Plus, they must spend very little time there with all the filming and partying they do.

One person who apparently doesn’t mind the mess is Ed Westwick’s rumored girlfriend, co-star Jessica Szohr (who plays Vanessa Abrams on the show).

A week after their PDA session at Madison Square Garden, she was spotted leading her man by the hand into Tenjune’s VIP area on Friday night.
