Lady Gaga Talks About Gossip Girl Appearance

So far, the Gossip Girl cast has provided only vague details about what fans should expect from Lady Gaga's appearance on the show November 16.

But Gaga herself recently opened up to MTV about why she agreed to do it.

"First of all, my sister's a huge fan, and she's 17 years old. So when I called her and said Gossip Girl wants to put my new album on the show and have me perform, she was like 'Oh my God, you have to do it,'" she said.

"And I'd seen it. It's a great show."

Of course, Lady Gaga had no interest in a stereotypically awkward musical guest cameo. She wanted it done in typical Lady Gaga fashion.

"I hate most TV show performances, because they kind of come in out of nowhere, and everyone's, like, really into the story line, and then all of a sudden somebody breaks into song," she said. "It has nothing to do with the story."

Lady Gaga made sure her Gossip Girl appearance was unique.

So rather than showing up on the set for the day, Gaga met with writers and producers to ensure she was doing a performance she felt good about.

"I really sat down with the Gossip Girl writers," she said.

"I was like, 'Look, the reason I want to do this is because I'm trying to say something that is not mainstream. So, if I can say it on your show, that would be, like, a real coup d'état for me as a performance artist.'"

The result sounds like an elaborate music video.

"I am the narrator behind what is going on with the characters and make the song part of the moment," she said of her "crazy performance-art piece."

"We used these ladders. Ladders are kind of a monster symbol about bad luck. And I have this 35-foot-long dress on and these X's, very gothic-inspired."

"It was great. They let me do whatever the hell I wanted. It was amazing."

Lady Gaga Spotted on Gossip Girl Set!

Looks like Blair has a new idea in mind to win over the NYU populace.

It's an idea with star power: getting Lady Gaga to do a private show!

In the November 16 episode of Gossip Girl (three weeks from tonight), the dance-pop singer will appear as herself in just that situation. Way to go, Blair!

Lady Gaga will reportedly be performing her new single, “Bad Romance.” She also knows one person who is particularly excited for her to be on the show.

“My little sister is the hugest Gossip Girl fan ever,” she told People.

Gaga For Gossip Girl

Penn Badgley, Lady Gaga and Leighton Meester on the set of Gossip Girl.

The star was confirmed to be coming to the show earlier this month. The November 16 episode she'll be on is entitled "The Last Days Of Disco Stick."

The episode has already been filmed with Gaga on it.

Last week, Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester described Gaga's cameo as "really cool. It was very avant garde and kind of gothic ... it was very fun".

"She just makes a cameo, and we talk about her for awhile," added Penn Badgley. "We all have a storyline where we put on a cabaret with her songs."

Other than that, he says, "You'll have to wait and see."

Leighton Meester Talks About Chuck's Kiss, Lady Gaga

Gossip Girl is about to step up its love game.

On tonight's episode, Ed Westwick's Chuck Bass will start playing for the other team - or at least masquerade as such - and kiss a guy on the show.

No word on how much he'll like the gay kiss, but his on-screen love, Leighton Meester, divulges that her own Blair Waldorf may be the mastermind.

"Well, I guess that I can tell you some things," she told MTV on the set of the new music video for her duet with Robin Thicke, "Somebody to Love."

"No, it's not tied into the threesome. I think all of this is so everybody grabs their attention, and we are all in college now, so we can definitely push the limit a little more with the sexuality, which is fine by me."

"I sort of make the kiss happen. I can tell you that much, and that's it."

Meester at the VMAs

Leighton Meester previews tonight's Gossip Girl and beyond.

As if the latest steamy story lines on Gossip Girl weren't attention-grabbing enough, Lady Gaga will also be making an appearance later this season.

"I don't know what I can say, and what I can't," Meester said. "But it was really cool. It was very avant garde and kind of gothic, and she's pretty cool."

While Penn Badgley suggested last week that Gaga would have something to do with Dan Humphrey's storyline, Meester clarified that isn't exactly true:

"She just makes a cameo, and we talk about her for awhile," she said. "But, yeah, we all have a story line where we put on a cabaret with her songs."

"Other than that, you'll have to wait and see."

Victoria Beckham to Guest Star on Gossip Girl

Victoria Beckham has reportedly landed a role on Gossip Girl and will arrive in New York City on Wednesday to shoot scenes for a future episode.

Looks like Posh has gone from Spice Girl to Gossip Girl!

“I’m beyond obsessed with that show,” she has said.

Becks is just the latest high-profile guest star this season. We've already seen Tory Burch, Tyra Banks, Hilary Duff (ongoing) and the Sonic Youth, and we will soon see Lady Gaga performing her new song on the show.

No word yet on whether Victoria will play herself or someone else.

Are you excited for all of the star power? Or is it overkill?

Coming Soon to Gossip Girl: Lady Gaga!

Even Blair Waldorf might take the subway if her reward on the other end was a Lady Gaga concert. The singer is filming an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl today on the Lower East Side, in which she'll perform as herself!

We imagine she'll be debuting some original Gossip Girl music on the show, which is pretty cool for Gossip Girl, whether you're a fan of Lady Gaga or not.

The New York Daily News reported the NYC native's guest role today. Are you excited for more star power coming to the Upper ... er, Lower East Side?

Nate's Cousin Tripp Vanderbilt to Return in November

A Gossip Girl source confirms that Broadway vet Aaron Tveit is reprising his role as Nate’s wealthy cousin, Tripp Vanderbilt, in November for at least six episodes.

The politically minded Tripp will announce that he’s running for office (possibly the senate) and Nate will get involved with his campaign. Holley Fain, who portrayed Tripp’s fiancée, will also be returning for multiple episodes.

Tripp was mentioned in the season premiere by Nate's grandfather, who, in a bit of foreshadowing, called him about a way to potentially stick it to the Buckleys.

Tveit will juggle his Gossip Girl arc with his Broadway gig in Next to Normal.

In other Gossip Girl casting news, actress Sarah Steele (Spanglish) has been cast in a potentially recurring role of Kira Abernathy, a Constance Billard girl who tries to befriend queen bee Jenny. Her first episode airs November 9.

What do you make of the arrival of these guest stars new and old?

Hilary Duff, Tyra Banks Dish on Gossip Girl Roles

As we're all aware and excited for (well, maybe some of us are), Hilary Duff will be guest starring on next week's episode of Gossip Girl, "Dan de Fleurette."

The CW has released an exclusive interview with Hilary, in which the actress, who just turned 22 this week, talks about the show and her character, Olivia.

See below and tell us what you think. Are you excited for the introduction of Hilary's character or do you think someone else would be a better fit with Dan?

Kevin Zegers to Guest Star on Gossip Girl

The love life of Jenny Humphrey is about to get more complicated on Gossip Girl.

Kevin Zegers has joined the cast for a multi-episode arc later this fall as Damien.

Damien is being billed as an "international bad-boy." Sounds intriguing for Lil' J!

Kevin Zegers Picture

Zegers previously starred opposite Felicity Huffman in TransAmerica, and was recently seen in 50 Dead Men Walking and The Narrows, among other works.

He will soon begin production on The Story of Bonnie and Clyde.

Gossip Girl Spoilers: More on Tyra Banks and Hilary Duff

As we all know, Tyra Banks and Hilary Duff are coming to Gossip Girl next week. Today's TV Guide spoiler column has the latest on what we can expect then ...

Q: I can't wait to see Hilary Duff on Gossip Girl. Who will she have scenes with?

A: Who won't she have scenes with? I had heard that movie star Olivia Burke (Duff) would be rooming with Vanessa, but I had no idea she'd be romancing Dan and working with Serena. (Yes, you heard that right: working.)

But forget all that, if you're looking for an excuse to laugh louder than you ever have in your life, honest human emotion, wait until you see Duff and her fellow guest star Tyra Banks' virtuoso performances in Fleur.

That would be the film-within-the-show about, of course, the French resistance during World War II. Talk about Les Miserables!

Quite a lot of hype. Are you excited for Hilary and Tyra or no?

The Big OT-Bizzle

Desmond Harrington to Return as Jack Bass

Jack Bass, devious uncle of Chuck Bass, is set to return to the show later this season, TV Guide reports, having spoken to actor Desmond Harrington.

"I will be back," says Harrington, who plays the character. "I think it's episode 15 or 16 where I show back up this year. It's fun playing Uncle Jack."

When we last saw Jack Bass, he tried to attack Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford), who took over Bass Industries for one-time stepson Chuck.

Jack was then sent packing back to Australia with a sore jaw after being punched by Chuck. What do you think brings him back to New York City?

Jack

Harrington, who currently plays Det. Quinn on Dexter, says the producers if Gossip Girl asked him to come back, but he doesn't know the plot details.

However, the actor says he hopes to continue making Chuck's life a living hell again: "I think I am there to screw that kid's life up basically," he says.

"I think [Jack Bass] might be, out of all the most evil characters the show has ever had on it, the single most evil character. He's just pure evil."

We learned on the Season 2 finale that Jack slept with Blair, though this was practically an afterthought. Will it be explored more this season?

Are you excited to see the return of Jack Bass?
