Armie Hammer Cast as Gabriel Serrano

As we reported yesterday, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) is getting a new love interest - and one that doesn't even share a half sibling with her.

Now, E! Online has revealed the actor who will play the role.

Armie Hammer - who has also been cast as the Devil's son, Morgan, on Reaper - will join Gossip Girl at the end of the season to play Serena's new beau.

The CW confirmed Hammer's casting yesterday afternoon.

The preliminary details on his steamy affair with Serena are as follows: Gabriel Serrano is a European socialite, a man unlike any Serena has dated before.

Gabriel will actually be dating Serena's socialite pal, Poppy Lifton (Tamara Feldman), before he moves on to her. Sounds like a scandalous love triangle worthy of the Upper East Side - and his character's drama doesn't stop there.

Armie Hammer will appear on three episodes toward the end of Season Two as a part of the Anne Hathaway-esque story line. Hathaway's Italian businessman beau was arrested and jailed for racketeering and fraud last year ...

Two New Gossip Girl Guest Stars Cast

According to TV Guide, a couple of interesting Gossip Girl casting moves have been made this week: Aaron Tveit and Holley Fain have been cast as Nate's very wealthy cousin Tripp Vanderbilt (nice name, chief!) and his fiancée, Maureen.

In the last post we read about Nate's cousin, he was named Kipp and he was married. Now he's Tripp and engaged. Pretty close. He's still said to be wealthy, good-looking and politically-minded, though - no change of plans there!

Tveit appeared in the Broadway productions of Wicked and Hairspray and the film Ghost Town. Fain recently appeared on episodes of Lipstick Jungle and Law & Order: CI.

The posh pair will appear in two upcoming episodes, in which Nate Archibald - who we have not seen too much of lately - reconciles with his mother's powerful family.

Gossip Girl Spoilers: Nate Gets a Cousin

The Gossip Girl producers will be expanding Chace Crawford's enviable gene pool in the form of a cousin for Nate, according to Entertainment Weekly today.

The yet-to-be-cast character will be in his 20s and is described as a wealthy, confident, politically-minded and - all together now - extremely good-looking guy.

But before you go fixing him up with Blair, Serena or anyone else on the Upper East Side, you should know that this cousin of Nathaniel Archibald is married.

You should also know that his name is Kip Vanderbilt.

But all signs are that Kip is not a descendant of New York's legendary Vanderbilt family, though. For starters, Kip's dad's name is William, not Cornelius.

Nate the Great

Any casting suggestions for who should play Kip V. - or opinions on what this Gossip Girl casting news means for our favorite characters? Will Kip cause trouble for fair Nate Archibald? Will he have man-bangs too? Share your thoughts ...

Kate French to Guest Star on Gossip Girl

Actress Kate French has been cast on Gossip Girl, according to celebrity news magazine OK!, and like other recent guest stars, it looks like she could stir up trouble.

On Gossip Girl, Kate will play Elle, a mysterious nanny who comes to the UES and gets involved with none other than Ed Westwick’s character, Chuck Bass.

Kate currently stars on The L Word as outrageous actress Nikki Stevens, who is often seen in her birthday suit on the provocative Showtime series.

French, KateKate French

Elle’s arrival comes during a time when Chuck is emotionally unstable and spiraling out of control following his father’s death, and his uncle Jack (Desmond Harrington) isn't exactly discouraging Chuck's bad habits - or making his own motives clear.

But will Elle come between Chuck and Blair Waldorf?

No word yet on whether Kate French will be sporting the same wardrobe (or lack thereof) she's known for on The L Word during her Upper East Side stint.

Laura Breckenridge to Guest Star on Gossip Girl

Chuck and Nate may be paying a lot more attention in class come Spring.

Sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly that Laura Breckenridge (Related) is joining the Gossip Girl cast as Rachel Carr, a young, idealistic and fresh-faced new English teacher who arrives at their posh prep school, Constance Billard.

She's an extremely young teacher, but a teacher all the same.

Laura Breckenridge

At 25, Breckenridge - who is booked for a minimum of three Gossip Girl episodes - is only a few years older than Blake Lively and Leighton Meester.

In fact, Gossip Girl producers are already acknowledging that fact right at the start, when Miss Carr gets mistaken for a student on her very first day.

No word on potential love interests, but we do know the first student she butts heads with: Blair Waldorf. The two don't exactly hit it off. Shocker!

Desmond Harrington to Play Bart Bass' Brother

With the story of Bart Bass' brother coming to Gossip Girl (possibly as a result of Bart's untimely demise?), Entertainment Weekly reports that the show has cast Desmond Harrington to play Jack Bass for a multi-episode arc.

He currently stars on the Showtime series Dexter.

Desmond Harrington

On Gossip Girl, Jack Bass first appears in New York City in early 2009 to see the Bass clan through a crisis. Fan theories abound on what that could mean.

As for Quinn, Desmond Harrington's character on Dexter, the Showtime hit is done shooting for this season. So this doesn't mean he's leaving that show.

Willa Holland Discusses Gossip Girl Character

Willa Holland has a lot to live up to.

Especially considering that Gossip Girl's last two major female guest stars have unearthed Serena van der Woodsen’s dark secrets (Michelle Trachtenberg as Georgina) and bedded / blackmailed Nate Archibald (Madchen Ameck as Catherine).

Holland, a 17-year-old L.A. native, hit the Upper East Side for the first of three Gossip Girl episodes Monday, and we've already seen what impact her character - a model named Agnes - had on Jenny Humphrey and her design aspirations.

If she looks familiar, that’s because Willa Holland played Marissa Cooper’s mischievous little sister Kaitlin on The OC, also the brainchild of Gossip Girl producer Josh Schwartz. Here's what she had to say to the L.A. Times about Agnes ...

LAT: Tell us about your character on Gossip Girl.

Willa Holland: Her name is Agnes and she’s a 16-year-old model that works for Eleanor Waldorf. She befriends Jenny Humphrey and inspires her to do her own thing. I think Agnes sees Jenny as somebody who’s not working for herself; she’s working for everybody else. She has a lot of talent and potential, so Agnes pushes her to get out on her own.

Actress Willa Holland of The OC and now Gossip Girl.

LAT: Would you say she has more of a good or bad influence over Jenny?

Willa Holland: I think she has good intentions, but she goes about it the wrong way. She tries to be Jenny’s partner in the clothing line but she doesn’t really hold her end of the deal. She’s kind of flaky in that sense.

An Interview with John Patrick Amedori

Starting October 27, John Patrick Amedori is set to appear as Aaron Rose, a new love interest for Blake Lively’s character, Serena van der Woodsen.

The Maryland native, 21, talked to People magazine about it ...

Q: Tell us about your character, Aaron Rose.

JPA: He’s definitely a part of that Upper East Side [world]. I think he’s got a lot of money. But he chooses not to be around that. He probably lives on the Lower East Side or in Greenwich Village.

Q: How does he get involved with Serena van der Woodsen?

JPA: He has an art show at Dan’s father’s (Rufus Humphrey's) gallery. Serena goes to see Dan. He takes notice of her and remembers her from camp. She doesn’t remember him at first. That’s pretty much how they start talking.

John Patrick Amedori PhotoBlake and John

Q: There are pictures of you kissing Blake Lively in Times Square with everyone watching. What was that like?

JPA: It was crazy. At first, Blake and I were nervous. When I walk in front of the camera, I kind of block everything out and it’s just Blake and me doing the scene. [Then] you realize our faces are as large as possible on this JumboTron and reality sets in.

Q: Was that the characters’ first kiss?

JPA: That was the first on-camera kiss for the relationship.

Stella Maeve to Guest Star on Gossip Girl

An aspiring actress and known New York City fashionista, Stella Maeve, has signed on for an upcoming part on Gossip Girl, according to OK! magazine.

Stella Maeve will play the character of Emma, the teenage daughter of a Yale University alum, who Blair Waldorf gets to "babysit" for the evening.

Why Blair is babysitting anyone is another question, but it sounds like a fun storyline with a lot of comedic potential. Here's a picture of Stella ...

Stella Maeve

From what we hear, Emma's been doing her homework on her new socialite "nanny" by reading up on Gossip Girl (the blog), and comes up with some interesting ideas on how she wants to be entertained by Blair Waldorf.

Can't wait to see what develops with this!

Gossip Girl Casting News & Notes

In Gossip Girl casting news, Wallace Shawn (the source of many funny Clueless and The Princess Bride quotes) is joining the show for a multi-episode arc.

The actor will reportedly play Cyrus, the father of Serena van der Woodsen's new boyfriend Aaron Rose (to be played by John Patrick Amedori).

Wallace Shawn

If the series follows the Gossip Girl books, Cyrus will eventually marry the  mother of Blair Waldorf, Eleanor. Could be interesting ...
