The Gossip Girl cast - Jessica Szohr, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Leighton Meester - collectively made People magazine’s Most Beautiful list. No argument here!
The beautiful and talented cast of Gossip Girl.
On-screen, they are gorgeous, scheming, back-stabbing high schoolers. Off-screen… oh who are we kidding, they are still gorgeous. But fortunately, they’re somewhat kinder to one another.
“I assure you,” Badgley says, “we are all fun and charming as hell.”

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester shows up to the New York set of her show looking prim, proper and ready to charter a boat (or go on a safari, we can’t tell) late last week in a sailor suit-inspired dress.

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester looked stunning at premiere of her new movie, Killer Movie, during the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival Thursday in N.Y. City.
Meester and Blake Lively are two of the hottest young stars on TV, and we can’t get enough of either! Check out more photos of Leighton here!
Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester shows off her killer good looks.
The horror comedy is about a reality TV shoot that goes awry. Really. Its camera crew becomes stranded in a remote Northern town where a killer is on the loose, stalking cast and crew one by one.
Leighton returns as her Gossip Girl alter ego, Blair Waldorf, Monday at 8 p.m. on The CW. She’s the best!

You can tell us what you thought about last night’s Gossip Girl episode in our forum. But don’t ask Leighton Meester about it.
“I haven’t seen it yet!” she confessed to Us Weekly Monday evening. “I’m not going to be able to see it tonight.”
The 22-year-old Gossip Girl star was too busy schmoozing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, naturally.
Leighton Meester has a clear idea on who she wants her character, Blair Waldorf, to hook up with, however — and it isn’t Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) or Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick).
“I like neither of those guys for Blair,” Meester said. “I think both are kind of wrong. Nate really wronged her, and Chuck is a bad seed. Blair needs a break from love and needs to get her bearings.”
In “The Blair Bitch Project,” Blair attempted a social comeback after being dethroned as the school’s alpha female. She plotted revenge against Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) for blabbing about it.
“I figured this would happen, it can be expected when all you do is bring others down,” Meester said. “I think Blair is going to have to crawl her way back to the top and there might be casualties along the way.”
Ed Westwick lowers his head, narrows his eyes and curls his mouth into his signature Chuck Bass snarl.
Hovering at the edge of the Gossip Girl schoolyard set wearing one of the dandy’s trademark candy-colored garments (this one’s a traffic-cone orange trench coat), Westwick hops up and down, shaking out his arms like a boxer about to enter the ring.
His foes? Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), the lead characters on Gossip Girl, the modestly rated but wildly buzzed- and blogged-about CW teen drama that’s arguably permeating pop culture in way not seen since The OC.
According to USA Today, Ed Westwick completes his Chuck transformation as he strides across the ersatz courtyard in front of the rolling cameras and sidling up to Serena, who’s sitting on a bench.
“It’s been awhile since I saw the old Serena,” he growls.
Gossip Girl’s gaggles of fans are thinking the same thing.
On Monday, Serena, Blake, Chuck and the rest of the groomed gang of private high schoolers are back on the Upper East Side to continue the cavorting begun before the writers’ strike.
Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively and Leighton Meester.
Shenanigans then included breaking into the school pool for a martinis and bikinis party; sleeping with a boyfriend — and his best friend — as Blair did; and (OMG) taking a pregnancy test.
All of which, of course, “everyone does,” jokes Meester, especially within the same week. At the end of the last episode, Blair’s reputation is in ruin, and Nate, her ex, is adrift, having lost Blair and his best friend, Chuck.
Expect ratcheted-up raciness in the final five episodes of Gossip Girl’s Season 1, the cast members themselves reveal. “These scripts have been really juicy and exciting,” Blake Lively, 20, says.
For one, Serena’s oldest frenemy, Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg), returns to reveal why the blond heroine was mysteriously whisked away to boarding school, only to come back in time for the start of the series.
Georgina’s presence promises to shake up Serena’s uptown girl-Brooklyn boy romance with Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley). Oh, and one character is coming out as gay, though no one will reveal whom.
It will all be chronicled, of course, via the must-read blog of the anonymous Gossip Girl (voiced by Kristen Bell).

On Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester plays Upper East Side penthouse princess Blair Waldorf. But in real life, Leighton is a lot more down to earth. In her recent chat with People, she talked about music, Gossip Girl fans and co-stars, media attention and (of course) clothes…
Q: What did you miss most while you were away during the strike? Leighton Meester: I missed the people, the cast and the crew and the producers. Everyone is amazing. Also, [I missed] New York. I love New York. I came here a couple times but I’m getting back into the swing of things. New York is such a wonderful city.
Q: We heard you’ve been working on an album. Can you tell us about it? Leighton Meester: I’m not signed to a label or anything. And I’m not really worried about that right now. I’ll probably be done in June so I don’t know when I might release it. It’s a collaborative effort. I write the lyrics and I work with my friend — a lot of the actual music we’ve made together and some of them are borrowed from other people that have given us music.
Leighton Meester as Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf.
Q: Can you describe the sound? Leighton Meester: It’s very pop but not too bubblegum. It’s just fun. I have a million things to write about. I’m having fun just exploring and experimenting. I’m not going too moody and sorrowful. It’s more fun music. There are infinite possibilities. We’re such a good team. It pretty much doesn’t feel like work. It’s fun and easy. It’s one of the most exhilarating things I’ve done.
Q: What do you think of all the fans that come out to watch you shoot your scenes? Leighton Meester: We love the fans of Gossip Girl. They’re the reason the show is on. It’s cool to have them come and show their appreciation. They’re usually really cool people.
Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester are the cover girls for the latest issue of Nylon magazine! You may click here for the full story, but we have some excerpts for you below.
Leighton Meester on playing her character on Gossip Girl: “Maybe I’ve known [Blair Waldorf] somehow or I know her in myself, and she needs somebody to portray her in a way that isn’t completely harsh because she really could be so hated.”
Blake Lively on how she almost turned down Gossip Girl: “[I thought] if there are pet monkeys wearing coordinating outfits, that’s not something I’m going to want to be a part of… ”
Leighton Meester on Gossip Girl styles: “Serena van der Woodsen is more thrown together and effortless and doesn’t really care, and is just like, has this sexiness to her without trying, and Blair is really uptight and conservative and put together and everything has to be perfect, you know Chuck Bass is kind of cocky and he’s just like, I don’t know, a prick.”
Blake Lively on the weirdness of online forums: “Yeah, it’s kind of crazy but after the first Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants trailer even came out, um, I guess it’s maybe I’m the only person with long blonde hair in Hollywood? I don’t know, but everyone was like, ‘Oh, she should be Serena.’”

You know her as Blair Waldorf, but Leighton Meester is also breaking into the movie business, and following in the footsteps of Lauren Conrad and other TV stars by launching a fashion line!
Nylon: In Remember the Daze, you worked with a director who was your age. How was that?
Leighton Meester: It was awesome! She is young, but very, very smart. Jess made the set a little more casual and fun; it was less like work. Definitely the most fun work I’ve done, ever.
Nylon: You were blonde in the movie …
Leighton Meester: I was blonde in general, not just for the movie. I mean, for a while I just was blonde. And I guess it’s hard for people to see me as a different character [than Blair Waldorf] but the whole thing was a different experience and a different kind of movie. It’s coming of age, it doesn’t talk down to the audience and it’s an experience more than anything.
Nylon: It’s about high school kids in 1999 … you were in high school in 1999… any similarities?
Leighton Meester: Not really. I went to Beverly Hills High - yeah, I really did. I guess I was kind of friends with everybody and NOT popular. But in this movie, there are much higher stakes than in normal high school.
She looks good in anything (and presumably nothing), but we’ve taken a look at some of Leighton Meester’s differing, but terrific recent clothing choices in a Gossip Girl fashion breakdown.
Trading in her sweet dresses for a pair of trendy 7 for flared jeans and pale pink top, the Gossip Girl star looked California cool at a Remember the Dazeevent earlier this month in Beverly Hills (left).
But she can do luxurious too. Leighton Meester took a fashionable note from her onscreen alter-ego, pairing her luxe Versace dress with a Felix Ray white patent bag for a party in New York (right).
Which of Leighton Meester’s outfits do you like better?
