Does Chace Crawford mind his new role as a television heart throb? Not exactly.
“I can’t complain” Crawford said during a recent interview.
From there, though, the young actor did complain. Sort of. He said he wishes he could do other things with his character.
“I love the lighter scenes, I wish there was more of them,” Crawford said.
Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and the rest of the Gossip Girl cast are adjusting to the spotlight.
Penn Badgley, meanwhile, actually says his life isn’t so different from before, despite the success of Gossip Girl.
“It’s funny, people say it’s a big hit, and they say things like, ‘You’re turning into a star,’ but my life has not changed for the most part,” he said. “We’re working everyday, so we don’t see it as much.”
The reality of the show’s popularity comes sharply into focus when the cast travels to the Upper East Side to shoot scenes on location, says Badgley.
“I’ll get mobbed by literally 40 school girls. It’s like being a full fledged star, and that’s surreal.
Crawford can recall one specific incident that stood out as particularly strange.
“Me and Ed Westwick were walking to set, and fans were surrounding us, like this donut of walking girls.”

A real-life romance for Penn Badgley (Dan) and Blake Lively (Serena)?
“No one is really supposed to know that,” laughs a Gossip Girl insider (not to be confused with this website). “I was told by a friend of the family.”
Their new relationship has meant Blake Lively, 20, having to disentangle herself from her former boyfriend and Burbank (Calif.) High School classmate, actor and model Kelly Blatz.
Lively and Penn Badgley, 21, were spotted shopping together December 17 at ABC Carpet and Home on Broadway, looking every bit the couple.

Penn Badgley tells Canada’s CTV that unlike some of his peers, he has a more laid back approach to his craft.
The 21-year-old actor was in Toronto earlier this year promoting Gossip Girl, which debuted this fall on CTV.
“I don’t think it matters what you studied, I think working is the best training,” said Badgley, hunched forward in his chair.
Gossip Girl is based on the best selling book series of the same name. It follows the lives of wealthy teens in New York City’s Upper East Side and the mysterious blogger that chronicles their every move.
Badgley plays Dan Humphrey, a student who attends school in the Upper East Side yet is completely foreign to the lifestyle enjoyed by his peers inside one of the world’s most affluent zip codes.
Penn Badgley has won the hearts of many fans as Dan Humphrey.
Dan, is in love with Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), the most loved - and reviled - woman at the center of Gossip Girl, and is determined to make things work despite their class differences.
Penn Badgley has previously lived in the Big Apple, and is familiar with life in New York - especially how it impacts actors.
Working in the city, Badgley remembers meeting many New York “theatre kids” who he realized approached acting much differently than he did.
“I think they might intellectualize it too much… but other times I think I don’t intellectualize it enough,” laughs Badgley. “I think there is naturalism to the person who is good and untrained.”
Despite taking pride in the work he’s done, Penn Badgley isn’t ruling out some kind of schooling in the future.
The Gossip Girl cast members Ed Westwick, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester made the trip out to Long Island City, Queens, on Friday to shoot a series of holiday Gap ads. Check it out …
Yawn. Filming Gossip Girl is hard work! Blake Lively (Serena) and Penn Badgley (Dan) were spotted during a break on the set, and looking like they’ve been hard at work for awhile. Someone get this guy a nap!
A cute couple, even when exhausted, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively take a short break from filming a new episode of Gossip Girl in Manhattan.
Appearing on The View last week, both Blake Lively and Penn Badgley talked about the appeal of Gossip Girl.
Each young star pointed to a sensation of “heightened reality” on the series. First, check out what Blake had to say:
“I think that our show takes place at a heightened reality a little bit… I think a lot of the realism is lost in the sparkle, and it’s meant to. You need that for the entertainment and the grit.
But this stuff does happen and it’s good that we get to address these issues. It does open the door for conversations for parents to have with their children.”
And Badgley was in full agreement with his castmate: “You see the repercussions of it at such a young age… It is heightened reality because it is television, but they did get it from somewhere…”
