Gossip Girl Round Table: "Gone with the Will"

As fans venture to our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite couples and story lines, our staff writers gather each week to analyze the burning questions, classic quotes and other memorable moments from the greatest show on TV.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

Topics from "Gone with the Will" include memorable quotes, the next step for Chair, Nate and Vanessa, and when we will finally meet the mysterious Andrew ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: Jenny referring to Eric as "so conceited," with his immediate response of "you're so annoying!" Millions of Gossip Girl fans gave Eric an imaginary high-five for that one.
Mister Meester: It's kinda gross, but I gotta choose this quote: Jack: "Reschedule Blair." Chuck: "I can't. She's been a good friend to me." Jack: "The last time I had a friend like that I would up with gonorrhea." Chuck: "Suprax?" Jack: "Rocephin." My colleague Gossip Guy confirms these are actual prescription drugs that treat STDs! Awesome.
Gossip Guy: I really really hate Jack Bass, but I love Chuck's interaction with him. I think my favorite quote was the conversation between them at the will reading and they asked Chuck if he wanted Jack as his guardian. I don't remember the exact wording but the exchange went something like this "Curfew? None. Bringing girls home? Yes please." Now, someone please get me the exact wording of the quote so we can put it on the site. Sigh, it's so hard finding obedient minions.
2. Where do Chuck and Blair go from here?
DANdy: To their neutral corners. But like Evander Holyfield, neither of these fighters will retire anytime soon. This relationship has more stages than the Tour de France.
Mister Meester: I can't wait to see what happens next in the downward spiral of Chuck (another amazing performance by Ed Westwick last night, by the way). But he blew it and Blair has had enough. That look on her face said it all. One day, perhaps Chair can be together, but in the meantime, I expect B to seek romance elsewhere.
Gossip Guy: Chuck finally looks like he's on the right path at the end of the episode when he came to Blair to apologize in the only way a Chuck can. Now if we can just get that Jack (B)ass to stop interfering maybe we'll get a Chair reunion next episode.
Gossip Girl Round Table: "In the Realm of the Basses"
As fans venture to our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite couples and story lines, our staff writers gather each week to analyze the burning questions, classic quotes and other memorable moments from the greatest show on TV.
Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
Topics from "In the Realm of the Basses" include memorable quotes, Derena's future, the enigma of Nelly Yuki, and what happened between Jack Bass and Blair ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: Blair's reaction to the news of Serena and Dan being back together: "A postcard would have been fine." Only B can be catty one minute and sympathetic the next.

Mister Meester: My favorite has to be Chuck's reasoning for smoking hash - "that it provides a smoother high" than marijuana - an assessment which was met by Jack's subtle nod of approval across the table, no less.

Gossip Guy: Fresh off her terrible fashion plot line, Jenny Humphrey is back in high school and back in my heart. She definitely had some of the best quotes this episode, including when she called Dan out on Serena being nine hotness levels above him... and he agreed! Awesome.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Can Derena's romance survive the love child twist?

DANdy: No. Some things just aren't meant to be.

Mister Meester: You'd think that it could, since they've gotten past her killing some guy, issues with their parents' past, and the cretin that was Aaron Rose. But we're talking about Derena here. S gets weirded out by pretty much anything (and this is actually weird), while D is prone to stubbornness and indignation. They're toast.

Gossip Guy: You kidding me? Their love can't survive a little murder, their parents being former lovers, or a gust of wind. How are they possibly supposed to survive sharing a half-brother?

Gossip Girl Round Table: "O Brother, Where Bart Thou?"

As fans venture to our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite couples and story lines, our staff writers gather each week to analyze the burning questions, classic quotes and other memorable moments from the greatest show on TV.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

Topics from "O Brother, Where Bart Thou?" include memorable quotes, Ed Westwick's brilliance, confusing plot elements, heartwarming moments and Lily's secret ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: How can there be any answer to this question that doesn't include Blair Waldorf's three magical words to Chuck Bass? I. Love. You. My subsequent reaction to this long-awaited admission? O.M.G.
Mister Meester: Tie between Blair's lament that "only a masochist could ever love such a narcissist," and Aaron's "are you sure it's your family you don't want to leave" bit. The way he plays Serena is diabolical. I hate him so hard.
Gossip Guy: Because Gossip Girl is finally going to have its fair share of Jewish jokes (a la The OC) thanks to Cyrus, I have to give it to Blair's "I'm not maternal, I've just been spending too much time with Cyrus and I'm turning Jewish. Come on, I see kugel."
gg-rt.jpg
2. How great was Ed Westwick last night?
DANdy: He was incredible. Hello, Emmy Voters? This is Gossip Girl Insider calling. The Best Actor in a Drama race is over.
Mister Meester: On a night when Bart's death could've seemed too quick and easy and turned the show silly, Westwick's performance as disheveled, angry, drunk and broken Chuck elevated both his character and the entire series. Bravo, Ed!
Gossip Guy: If this show wasn't on the CW I'd say that was Emmy-winning. Don't get me wrong, I always love Chuck's scowls and creepy looks, but this episode, we saw real emotion out of him. I don't know where Ed pulls that performance from but well done.
Round Table: "It's a Wonderful Lie"
As fans sound off in our Gossip Girl forum on their favorite couples and story lines, our staff members gather each week to analyze the burning questions, funny quotes and other memorable moments from the best show on TV.
Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
Topics from "It's a Wonderful Lie" include memorable quotes and fashion statements, couples we love and others we don't, and Lily's mysterious secret ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: Gotta give it to B's posse member for the dis and V for the retort: Penelope: "Oh, hello, weird documentary girl." Vanessa: "Oh, hello, sad Blair wannabe." Snap!

Mister Meester: Dorota telling Blair she was examining possible dates via Facebook. LOL. First the Britney Spears ringtone, now this! Who knew Dorota was so hip?

Gossip Guy: Sorry, Chuck. It looks like my quote goes to Dan for two round tables in a row! When Serena said that she thought sex was meaningful to Dan, he responded with "It is, especially when I haven't had it in awhile." It had me laughing out loud! Though Dorota, some of your quotes put you a close second!

gg-rt.jpg

2. At the ball, whose moments tugged at your heartstrings the most: Dan and Serena, Rufus and Lily, or Blair and Chuck?

DANdy: Can there be any doubt? No offense to Lufus or Derena, but watching Chair's scheming and witty, sexy courtship is the unquestioned highlight of the series.

Mister Meester: When Rufus said he was afraid to tell Lily how he felt, and she longed to hear it, their faces said more than words ever could. We all love the antics of the Upper East Side teens, but these two are the heart and soul of the series.

Gossip Guy: Oh, I definitely have to give this one to Derena. OMG it got really dusty in the room when they both talked about their first time being the greatest night in their lives. Will you two just shut up already and get back together?!? I don't know how much more I can handle of this.

Round Table: "The Magnificent Archibalds"

As fans sound off in our Gossip Girl forum on their favorite couples and story lines, our staff members gather each week to analyze the burning questions, funny quotes and other memorable moments from the best show on TV.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

Topics from "The Magnificent Archibalds" include memorable quotes, sketchy Aaron, Nate's letter to J, random run-ins and touching Thanksgiving moments ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: Any interaction between Blair and Derota. I'll go with B's screaming at her housekeeper for "more flour!" in the middle of Blair's phone call with Serena.
Mister Meester: Chuck's passing remark that his "plans for the evening just got hung up in customs." The implication that he was flying in some girl(s) from out of the country to entertain him for a night is hilarious, even by Chuck Bass standards.
Gossip Guy: Haha, I have to give it to my boy Dan this episode. As far as I was concerned his awkward mumbling is perfection when he has to deal with something like Serena's new disgusting boyfriend. Favorite line of his? "Serena's not that big into cheese. You might wanna go with the Wines of Southern France." I just loved his pronunciation.
gg-rt.jpg
2. How sketchy is Aaron Rose?
DANdy: So sketchy, he broke his leg and gravy poured out! Wait... never mind. The dude is almost as shady as he is lucky.
Mister Meester: Quite. He effectively blackmailed Serena to quit drinking in exchange for him dropping the "seeing other girls" thing. Diabolical. He is also completely undeserving of Serena, and doesn't even seem that into her, yet everything he says wraps her around his finger. I hope Dan sabotages him and sweeps S off her feet! Go Derena!
Gossip Guy: Are the writers trying to give me someone to hate more than Vanessa? You guys are coming awfully close. He's so sketchy he probably can't even shave that lame excuse for patchy facial hair that disgustingly grows all over him. I don't even know what that means.
Round Table: "Bonfire of the Vanity"
As fans sound off in our Gossip Girl forum on their favorite couples and story lines, our staff members gather each week to analyze the burning questions, funny quotes and other memorable moments from the best show on TV.
Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
Topics from "Bonfire of the Vanity" include memorable quotes, absent characters, Jenny's career aspirations and two father-son tandems (the Rose and Bass boys)...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: Blair's rattling off Cyrus' negative attributes, most of all that he's a hugger and has a catchphrase. It's hard to imagine worse if you're Blair.

Mister Meester: I loved Gossip Girl's NYC-themed film/literary name-dropping while dissing J: "Poor little orphan Jenny, looks like she needs a Daddy Warbucks, but Daddy Warbucks don't grow on trees. At least on a tree that grows in Brooklyn."

Gossip Guy: Funny enough the only line that really had me laughing out loud was Blair's "You used the everyday china. Cyrus will think we're just common upper-middle class." What an amazing spoiled brat. I so <3 you Blair. Chuck, bring your A game next week so I can return the weekly quote honors to you.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Will Jenny get her way with this emancipation plan, or have her fashion dreams gone up in flames?

DANdy: Yawn. Do all things J have to be boring and/or nonsensical? Why did she hook up with Nate? Why didn't she stop Agnes from torching her clothes? Where did she sleep after getting kicked out? This story line needs to get better or get auf'd.

Mister Meester: It's fitting that for all the attention paid to Gossip Girl fashion, Jenny should pursue a career in the industry. She just needs to lose the eye-makeup and '80s rocker look and give a little. In return, she'll get a lot of Rufus' support.

Gossip Guy: I hope Rufus steps up and embraces his crazy daughter's fashion dreams. Really Rufus, I'd like to think an artist such as yourself would understand. Sign the damn paperwork. Let her fail. At least she'll be at home for the obligatory "I told you so."

Gossip Girl Round Table: "There Might Be Blood"

As fans sound off in our Gossip Girl forum on their favorite couples and story lines, our staff members gather each week to analyze the burning questions, funny quotes and other memorable moments from the best show on TV.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

Topics from "There Might Be Blood" include all things Nate, as well as the arrival of Aaron Rose, and what the future holds for Blair and Chuck ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: Blair referred to Muffy - whose net is always open to players with sticks, if you know what I mean! - as a "lacrosse-titute." That's hilarious.
Mister Meester: It's gotta go to Gossip Girl herself for the headline, "Muffy's Muff Gets Stuffed." That is so wrong, but so great. Side note: How great is it that 1. Chuck has "connections" with Gossip Girl and 2. the blog looks like the real CW site?
Gossip Guy: Definitely Chuck when he uses a pun of his own name, "look like you just hooked yourself a Bass." It's one thing when other characters do it, but now Chuck doing it himself? Unreal. What a show!
gg-rt.jpg
2. Do you trust Aaron?
DANdy: I don't trust Serena to know how hot she is. A shady artist that won't come clean about the girls kissing him and answering his phone? You can do better, S.
Mister Meester: Basically, various women answer the dude's phone and show up wherever he happens to be. Maybe they're just friends - if he had something to hide, wouldn't he be a little more careful? No, he's probably just that shady.
Gossip Guy: I trust him as much as I like him. And that's not at all. How the hell did he dodge the question about that girl answering his phone? And how do I learn that trick?
Gossip Girl Round Table: "Pret-a-Poor-J"
As fans sound off in our Gossip Girl forum on their favorite couples and story lines, our staff members gather each week to analyze the burning questions, funny quotes and other memorable moments from the best show on TV.
Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
Topics from "Pret-a-Poor-J" include all things Nate, as well as the arrival of Aaron Rose, and what the future holds for Blair and Chuck ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: Any Chuck-related pun is guaranteed to earn my vote for this question. Hence, my guffaw when Blair responded to Dan's inquiry about Chuck leaving abruptly with: "Like a Bass out of Hell."

Mister Meester: Dan's genuinely baffled "Wow. Someone loves Chuck Bass."

Gossip Guy: It's time to return my weekly quote response to Chuck. It was choice when Blair asked him if he liked her new scent and he responded with "Smells a little like desperation." Well played, my boy.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Chuck and Blair have come to an understanding - so what happens next?

DANdy: I don't know. I can't wait to tune in to Gossip Girl next week and find out!

Mister Meester: Chuck Bass: Getting drunk, chasing massive amounts of no-regrets tail, and feeling generally empty inside. Blair Waldorf: Taking out her frustrations on the girls on the steps for wearing tights as pants and other offenses.

Gossip Guy: I guess Chuck goes back to being a manwhore and we Chair fans are sad? Maybe it's just the Chair fan in me, but I think it can happen!

Gossip Girl Round Table: "Chuck in Real Life"

As fans sound off in our Gossip Girl forum on their favorite couples and story lines, our staff members gather each week to analyze the burning questions, funny quotes and other memorable moments from the best show on TV.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

Topics from "Chuck in Real Life" include sexy outfits, Chuck turning the tables on Blair, and the paradox that is Vanessa  ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: This is an easy one. Chuck to Vanessa: "Did you have a reason for coming to see me? Because if it was to insult me, there's a website you can go to." Thanks for the shout out, Chuck!
Mister Meester: This exchange: Chuck: "My, that girl has gotten under your skin." Blair: "The question is, Bass - will you?" Oh, Blair, you dirty, dirty girl.
Gossip Guy: As much as I want to give my favorite quote to Chuck like I do almost every week, this time it was from an underdog... Eric. I loved his line, "Who watches TV on a TV anymore?" Yet another awesome example of Gossip Girl poking fun of itself. (The show is mostly watched on the Internet, people! Woo, tough crowd.)
gg-rt.jpg
2. Less believable: Nate living alone, sleeping on the floor with the power turned off, unbeknownst to anyone else, or Dan playing soccer?
DANdy: Considering how impressed Dan seemed to be by Nate simply bouncing a ball off his knee, gotta go with the latter.
Mister Meester: Anything that involves Dan and balls is too big a stretch.
Gossip Guy: Nate. How does he get those delicious man bangs without running water and his highly lit vanity mirror. That hair doesn't just happen people! Now if they said Dan was good at soccer, I wouldn't have believed it.
Gossip Girl Round Table: "New Haven Can Wait"
As fans sound off in our Gossip Girl forum on their favorite couples and story lines, our staff members gather each week to analyze the burning questions, funny quotes and other memorable moments from the best show on TV.
Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
Topics from "New Haven Can Wait" include Serena's Yale aspirations, Dan's new BFF, and the cat fight to end all cat fights ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: During the classic Serena-Blair cat fight, Blair screamed "ow, my headband!" after Serena dared to focus her (hot!) might on Blair's band. I laughed out loud at Blair feeling the pain of her favorite accessory.

Mister Meester: Nate's question to Dan, "Do you ever get tired of carrying around that chip on your shoulder?" This is the kind of zinger he probably thought up months ago and was just waiting for the right moment to (anticlimactically) use.

Gossip Guy: It's tough, but I'll give it to when Chuck Bass told the guys of Skull & Bones that they may be the future world leaders, but Chuck Bass now owns them. He didn't even want to go to Yale. He just showed up for more power. What a guy. And so glad he didn't sell out Nate! Makes me want to be his best friend even more!

gg-rt.jpg

2. Worse Humphrey idea: Jenny being home schooled by Vanessa, or Dan becoming BFFs with Nate?

DANdy: No offense to Vanessa, or to baristas around the world, but home schooling so far has resulted in Vanessa earning a living by serving coffee. Letters of recommendation to one's self never look good on a resume.

Mister Meester: Dan and Nate as friends may not be likely, but it's not unrealistic. Nate's always been a nice guy and not enamored with his own social status. As for Jenny and Vanessa, give me a break - but props to the Gossip Girl writers for making V the boss of Rufus, further laying the foundation for their inevitable hookup.

Gossip Guy: Definitely Jenny being home schooled. You know why? The idea involved Vanessa. 'Nuff said.
