Gossip Girl Round Table: "The Serena Also Rises"

As fans gather in our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members gather each Tuesday to analyze burning questions, funny quotes and memorable moments from the best show on TV.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

Topics from "The Serena Also Rises" include the mysterious envelope, Dan's writing future and a serious Gossip Girl fashion statement ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was the best Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: A reminder of just how sweet and innocent Lonely Boy remains, in spite of the amoral carnage so often thrown in his face: "If I have to exploit people to be a good writer, then maybe I don't want to be a good writer."
Mister Meester: When a hyperventilating Blair yells “Don’t ever go to high school, Dorota! The girls are spoiled, stupid and ungrateful!” This implies that Dorota: 1. Cares. 2. Hasn't gone to high school before. 3. Would, at some time in the future.
Gossip Guy: No brainer. When Dan comes to Chuck's door and says "I know we don't like each other. You think I'm a boring, sheltered nobody." Chuck had the best response of all time... "I don't think of you." Chuck, you make the show.
2. What do you think was in the envelope Bart gave Lily?
DANdy: A love letter from Eric to Clay Aiken.
Mister Meester: My guess is Serena isn't the only van der Woodsen to be involved in a sex tape. Man, people never think those are gonna get out.
Gossip Guy: Ooooh, I imagine we've only gotten slight insight into with her past with Rufus. Maybe medical records from that abortion when she was carrying Rufus' love child? Or even grosser, what if that love child was Serena. Or maybe, it's a picture of Lily's face before the nose job. Really, I have no clue and pray they reveal it next week.
Gossip Girl Round Table: "The Ex-Files"
As fans gather in our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members gather each Tuesday to analyze burning questions, funny quotes and memorable moments from the best show on TV.
Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
Topics from "The Ex-Files" include Nate's future, Serena's transformation, Blair's posse, and various idiotic blunders ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was the best Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: Only Blair can pull off the ridiculous, bitchy move of sabotaging Dan's lunch plans with Amanda by sounding like a loyal, logical friend to Serena: "They were going to lunch together. Lunch! As in the meal before dating? Is that what you want, S?"

Mister Meester: Dan, on Chuck lurking in the shadows ALL EPISODE LONG: "You should put a bell on." His response: "Kinky. I'll think about it."

Gossip Guy: It may be the webmaster in me, but I loved when Dan said "Google revenge and you get BlairWaldorf.com." BTW, you get a Wikipedia entry for it.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Who is your favorite member of Blair's bitchy posse?

DANdy: Isabel, hands down.

Mister Meester: Hmm. Gotta go with Penelope (in between Blair and Isabel in this pic of the clique). The other girls are kind of catty, loser hangers-on, but this Penelope girl is just plain mean. She totally wishes she was Blair.

Gossip Guy: Umm they have names? Next question.

Gossip Girl Round Table: "The Dark Night"

As fans gather in our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members are here to analyze burning questions, funny lines and memorable moments from the best show on TV.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table.

Topics from "The Dark Night" include Dan's idiocy, Jenny's odd plot line, Nate's potential escape, and a pair of faux accents ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
DANdy: Blair's response to Catherine, when the latter asked if the former had seen Nate: "Um, no, it's a blackout." Both bitchy and logical at once!
Mister Meester: When Blair calls Catherine out as an "aging beauty having her last fling before the surgeries start. It's called a cliché." Oh. Snap.
Gossip Guy: I think my favorite quote was the exchange between Chuck and Serena about our poor boy losing his mojo. But if we want to get technical and just have a single quote, I have to give it to Serena for "You are not using Blair as sexual Drano!" A good friend - and funny!
gg-rt.jpg
2. How will man-whore Nate escape the clutches of Catherine?
DANdy: He won't. Soon enough, Nate will wake up and realize he's sleeping with a stunning older woman, who likely knows her way around the bedroom AND is paying him for his dalliances. Maybe then Nate will stop being such a wuss.
Mister Meester: This cougar isn't mauling Nate because of his personality. He just needs to pull a Chuck and have some "equipment failure."
Gossip Guy: Why should he? So he can go running into the arms of the less attractive Vanessa? Stay where you are, man bangs, and be a good son. I mean it could be a lot worse. You got yourself one good looking sugar momma!
Gossip Girl Round Table: "Never Been Marcused"
As fans gather in our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members are here to analyze burning questions, funny lines and memorable moments from the best show on TV.
Welcome to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table.
Our topics from "Never Been Marcused" include Chuck's schemes, Blair's one-liners, Vanessa's apparent boredom, and more uncomfortable positions ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Blair Waldorf quote?

DANdy: The Queen B's putdown of Catherine was classic Blair: she thought Catherine was "just a callow social-climbing former swimsuit model who married above her station and was enslaved by her own insecurities." Remind us never to get on Blair's bad side.

Mister Meester: Short and sweet: "Oh my effing God." You gotta love a fictional character paying tribute to her own show's OMFG ad campaign!

Gossip Guy: It was subtle and I'm sure went unnoticed by a lot of fans, but I have to give it to Blair for "Notice how my voice didn't go up at the end? Not a question." Best. Bitch. Ever.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Harder to believe: That Vanessa has nothing better to do than turn Rufus' art gallery into a cafe, or that Dan is the slightest bit hesitant to get with Serena?

DANdy: D was a virgin when he bedded S. Serena, to put it mildly, was not. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that Dan may wanna perfect his love-making craft before committing fully to Serena again; otherwise, he may eventually lose her to a seasoned sex kitten, such as Russell Brand.

Mister Meester: Vanessa. We know the girl mysteriously appears whenever there's trouble to cause. That's one thing. But renovating Rufus' space? What's the point? How does she even know how to do it? I give up.

Gossip Guy: I'm sorry, am I supposed to believe Vanessa has a life? Vanessa serves one purpose the Gossip Girl world: pissing me off. I believe she'd definitely have nothing better to do than work for Rufus. Anything to get closer to Dan. Whore. Now Dan not getting back with Serena? What an idiot!

Round Table: "Summer, Kind of Wonderful"

Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

While fans gather in our Gossip Girl forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members are here to analyze the burning questions and memorable moments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.

Our topics from "Summer, Kind of Wonderful" include Nate's awkward positions, Chuck's new nicknames, Dan and Serena's romance and more ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Better nickname: MotherChucker or Chuck Basstard?
DANdy: MotherChucker, hands down. Pretty sure Josh Schwartz chose this character's name just to use that reference at some point.
Mister Meester: I know, I'm lame, but I say tie. There simply aren't enough bad pun-insult hybrids to describe the great Chuck Bass.
Gossip Guy: Chuck Basstard. 'Cause we're not talking about any bastard (I'm looking at you, offspring of Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin), we're talking about the bastard, Chuck Bass.
gg-rt.jpg
2. Did Dan and Serena get back together too quickly?
DANdy: Yes. The most significant story line to close season one was the break up of Derena. There was little doubt Dan was gonna find his way back to Serena eventually - a little manslaughter is nothing compared with those legs! - but at least drag the reconciliation out for a few episodes.
Mister Meester: I thought it was pretty realistic. On one hand, Dan tried his best to embrace the role of man-slut and let Serena go. But then at some point he realized she's Serena. You simply don't replace the Serena, not even by two-timing impressionable chicks eager to put out.
Gossip Guy: No. I don't think my heart could have taken any more seconds of them being apart. Why did they even have to wait until the end of the episode?
Round Table: "Much I Do About Nothing"
Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
While Gossip Girl fans gather in the forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members get together and analyze the burning questions and best moments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.
Our topics from "Much I Do About Nothing" include Vanessa and Nate, Dan and Serena, certain bitches getting theirs, and summer plans ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. So, Bart and Lily are married. Does this mean her fling with Rufus is over?

DANdy: Of course. Bart and Lily will live happily ever after with no drama at all and... darn, I almost got that all out with a straight face.

Mister Meester: Gosh I hope not. I love the youngsters but Rufus and Lily may be the best couple on the show. Such great chemistry.

Gossip Guy: Heavens no. This show is called Gossip Girl. Not No Drama Girl. I think that show's on the Make Believe Land channel.

gg-rt.jpg

2. More put in his/her place: Georgina being sent to boot camp, or Mr. Archibald being punched out by Nate?

DANdy: Punches run in the Archibald family (see Victor, Victrola). Nate and his dad will be fine. Georgina, conversely, will discover that booting in a club is nothing compared to the difficult life of a boot camp, or the humiliation of a really bad pun.

Mister Meester: Kudos to Nate for laying out his dad, but I hate Georgina so much. After what she did to Serena and Dan, she got off easy with boot camp. I'll give her a boot to the skull if I ever see her out.

Gossip Guy: Definitely Mr. Archibald. I think Georgina needed a good punch in the face by Serena to be properly put in her place. Bitch! Why did you ruin my Derena?

Round Table: "Woman On the Verge"

Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

While Gossip Girl fans gather in the forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members get together and analyze the burning questions and best moments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.

Our topics from "Woman On the Verge" include our favorite Gossip Girl quotes, the future of Dan and Serena, next week's wedding and more ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Are Dan and Serena over for good?
DANdy: Yes. Dan Humphrey values honesty above all else. Serena has already misled him about never having inadvertently killed a man hoping for a videotaped threesome, while outwardly lying about cheating on him. Dan can't trust her ever again.
Mister Meester: Sadly, I think so. Serena drove him away, but the video Georgina's going to make of herself getting spanked by Dan will be impossible for S to forget, let alone forgive.
Gossip Guy: As I've professed in previous round tables, Gossip Guy <3's Derena. However, Serena has been treating Dan like poop. I don't care if she thinks she killed someone and Dan puts her on a pedestal. Dan is not only your man, he is the man. How can you not confide in him, Serena? Telling him you cheated on him with three guys? First off, gross. Second off, I want Dan to move on. Just don't move on with Sarah / Georgina!
gg-rt.jpg
2. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote of the night?
DANdy: Chuck's response to Blair asking how he'd react if she knew where Georgina was: "Let's get the bitch," snarled in perfect Chuck Bass drawl.
Mister Meester: Any time the parents call Chuck Bass "Charles." Usually one's full name is reserved for occasions when one screws up. When you're a particularly bad seed, you get it all the time.
Gossip Guy: Oh this is easy. When each of Serena's friends in saying what terrible things they've done and Chuck simply answers, "I'm Chuck Bass." As much as I would have loved for Chuck to go over his laundry list of bad deeds, his name was merely enough. He's so deliciously evil.
Round Table: "Desperately Seeking Serena"
Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
While Gossip Girl fans gather in the forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members get together and analyze the burning questions and best moments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.
Our topics from "Desperately Seeking Serena" include newcomers Georgina and Asher, missing regulars Lily and Eric, …
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Asher: Really nice or really fake?

DANdy: I'm guessing he's a perfectly nice guy. He and Jenny will date for the next year or so with no complications whatsoever.

LovelyLively: Once again, the Gossip Girl spoilers I've read make me question whether this is going to work before I even give it a chance. But there's something I don't trust about Asher.

MisterMeester: Not sure about his personality, but his name sounds fake to me. Asher? Why do these trust fund brats always have such yuppie-ish names? $10 says Jenny develops a crush on Hunter Southworth next.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Who did you miss more in the episode: Bart Bass, Lily or Eric?

DANdy: Lily. But I assume she was off filming MILF Island 2. Can't blame her for that.

LovelyLively: In a shocking move I'm taking Bart. I really enjoy watching him get flustered at Chuck's antics.

MisterMeester: All of you ladies attracted to rich, older guys probably missed Bart. The guys surely missed Lily or Eric the most.

3. What is Serena van der Woodsen hiding?

LovelyLively: That she can do a great Southern accent, apparently. If Dan ever found out about that, their entire relationship might change! But seriously, folks. I have no idea. But it sounds really, really shady.

MisterMeester: Her sanity? Why won't Serena at least tell Dan that Georgina exists? Having Chuck Bass cover for her? That, and her being a bad liar, guarantees Dan's suspicions that something is amiss.

DANdy: We already know Serena van der Woodsen used to drink a lot, and Dan wasn't exactly her first romp in the hay (maybe not even in an art gallery). I'm gonna say Serena once acted as the lookout when Georgina swiped a pack of gum from 7-Eleven.

4. What are Sarah's intentions with Dan?

MisterMeester: Who knows, we barely saw anything of her. Side note: Sarah looks a lot like Georgina to me.

DANdy: Perhaps she just wants to take him on a EuroTrip.

LovelyLively: Despite a nice outward appearance, it seems to me that Sarah has murdered Georgina and worn her face as some sort of mask. I'd stay away, Dan.

Sparks Will FlyNanessa

Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) is up to no good, while Nate (Chace Crawford) found romance with Vanessa (Jessica Szohr).

5. Nate and Vanessa: OMG, WTF, or ROFL!

MisterMeester: At first, I was kinda like ROFL, what the h3ll are you doing N8?? But Vanessa actually seemed sort of cool in this episode, and she brings out the best in him. I <3 them I think!!!!!1!11!!

DANdy: WTF. But not due to the pairing of these two characters. They actually seemed to have chemistry together. I'm more baffled by the fact that Nate showed more personality during one evening with Vanessa than he did during one year with Blair.

LovelyLively: OMG, so cute. I was skeptical at first, as I love Nate and Blair, but having re-watched the episode, I like Nanessa a lot more now.

Round Table: "The Blair Bitch Project"

Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

While Gossip Girl fans gather in the forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff members get together and analyze the burning questions and best moments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.

Our topics from "The Blair Bitch Project" include couples that would make us sick, a character who may switch "teams" and much more …

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Which would be the more nauseating Gossip Girl couple: Nate and Jenny, or Chuck and Serena?
DANdy: Chuck isn't as evil as he seems, nor is Serena as innocent as she comes across. Moreover, the nickname this couple would take on would lead to satisfying puns such as "awww, Shuck!" when the pair is acting cute, and "What the Shuck?!?" when they inevitably break-up. Jenny, however, is about 12 years younger than Nate. That's gross.
LovelyLively: Chuck and Serena. Picturing Serena with anyone but Dan Humphrey is like a kick to the stomach. I'm on the fence with Nate and Jenny, but that means they're far less icky to me!
MisterMeester: Tie. Neither pairing has the chemistry of Serena and Nate or Chuck and Blair. Those couples need to get together already!
gg-rt.jpg
2. Will Lily go through with her marriage to Bart?
LovelyLively: If Chuck Bass is really the best man, there's no way Bart makes it to the altar on time after that trans-continental, booze-filled bash. Lily will then leave him for good after being stood up.
MisterMeester: I don't see it happening. I don't even see why they're even dating - I know, I know, he's rich and powerful and so on. But we've seen zero chemistry so far between them. It's hard to take them seriously - or to think there's even a remote chance of it lasting.
DANdy: It's unlikely. Lily is having a major cow over the possibility of marrying Bart. In love, so far, she's been an underachiever, but Lily is far from proud of it. Save her, Rufus!
3. Gossip Girl spoilers have revealed that a gay character on the show will be outed. Who do you think it is?
MisterMeester: Eric, obviously.
DANdy: Eric.
LovelyLively: My guess would have to be Eric.
Eric van der Woodsen
Is Eric (Connor Paolo) Gossip Girl's gay character?
4. What the heck does this "G" girl know about Serena's past?
DANdy: I don't know. But let's just hope it has something to do with a Serena: Uncovered, a sex tape from this beauty's past.
LovelyLively: Based on her wonderful gifts, we can only assume she's got photos of guys (or girls!) snorting coke and licking champagne off of a topless, handcuffed Serena. We can only hope.
MisterMeester: Again, the Gossip Girl spoilers make it quite clear who "G" is ... but what she knows, or will do to Serena? That's another story. My gut thinks that a guy was somehow involved in whatever rift took place, and G will look to get between Serena and Dan.
Gossip Girl Round Table: "A Thin Line ..."
Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
While Gossip Girl fans gather in the forum to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff comes together to analyze the burning questions and best moments from the most recent Gossip Girl episode.
As you might expect, our topics from "A Thin Line Between Chuck and Nate" all center around the big scandal. On to the Q&A…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Should Jenny have told Nate about Blair and Chuck?

DANdy: Yes. Jenny is a sweet girl. But when a minnow swims with sharks, it gets eaten. Sometimes, you've gotta flash your fangs in order to survive.

LovelyLively: No. That was a bitch move... not to mention way too ballsy. Forget Blair ostracizing her - Jenny's not worried (even a little?) that Chuck will pimp-slap that perpetual smirk off her face?

MisterMeester: Yes. Not because it was the right thing to do, or any of that ethical nonsense. But if Jenny truly wants to rise in the social class, she needs an established, respected man by her side. Step one of that plan, earning Nate's trust, has now been completed.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Where was Vanessa this episode?

LovelyLively: Maybe stopping by school? You know, the one she actually goes to? Seriously, girl is around Dan an awful lot. We must cherish the weeks where Vanessa is mysteriously and conspicuously absent.

MisterMeester: Taking classes from Ray J on how to make videos that sell for lots of money.

DANdy: At home, drying her hair. It definitely takes more than an hour with all those curls.

3. Will Rufus and Becks last?

MisterMeester: No. Rufus is new to dating. The ladies seem to flock to him. Considering those two factors, it's unlikely this former musical icon will settle down with the first woman that comes his way.

DANdy: Yes. Until Rufus meets someone named Budweiser, that is.

LovelyLively: No way. In his heart, he longs for Lily. Or he'll simply forget he made the date with Becks and not show.

4. Why do YOU love Serena?

DANdy: Serena has years of experience (with drugs, in bed, etc.) and a man by her side that everyone loves. She's also found her voice more and more in recent episodes, and her eyes welled up when Dan said he loved her. Like Hillary Clinton, Serena is human. I love her for it.

LovelyLively: Because not only will she date a guy like Dan, but their different backgrounds never even cross her mind. Plus, Blake Lively has some seriously amazing hair (among other attributes).

MisterMeester: All the reasons Dan said and more. Plus, you gotta love her fashion sense. Preppy and trendy at the same time!

Serena is Happy

5. Will Chuck and Nate make up?

LovelyLively: I hope so for Chuck's sake. Obnoxious as he is, I don't think he meant to hurt his friend... and I think we all know by now that Nathaniel is Charles' true love - platonic or otherwise.

DANdy: Of course. Eventually, Nate will come to a pair of realizations: he's at fault for expecting anything more from Chuck in the first place; and Blair is REALLY hot. Who wouldn't tap that the instant she was single?

MisterMeester: Your guess is as good as mine, but I think before too long, these two chaps will be back in Monaco, sipping drinks and wearing scarves on the beach like old times.
