Gossip Girl Round Table: "Roman Holiday"

Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!

While Gossip Girl fans gather in the forums to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff comes together to analyze the burning questions and best moments from the most recent Gossip Girl episode.

Topics from "Roman Holiday" include funny one-liners, surprise proposals, sexy Serena, secrets that are bound to come out. On to the Q&A…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Which will happen first: Chuck tells Nate about boning Blair, or Vanessa confesses her true feelings for Dan?
DANdy: Vanessa won't be able to contain her love for Dan much longer. It's hard for any of us to do so. But Chuck is smart enough to know that the mere threat of telling Nate about his B-Card stealing will drive Blair battier than simply spilling the news. Expect him to drag it out.
LovelyLively: Either Chuck already told Nate - gotta love the ambiguity of the final scene - or he's going to hold it over Blair Bear's head indefinitely. As for Vanessa, she needs to get hit over the head with a sock full of quarters.
GossipGuy: Vanessa will be confessing her true feelings to Dan within the next few episodes. I'm sorry Vanessa, you're not here to stay on the show. I <3 Derena too much. Back off Vanessa and your big nose!
gg-rt.jpg
2. Will Jenny and Eric hook up?
LovelyLively: I do really enjoy Eric and Jenny together, even if the producers mixed them up - shouldn't Dan the Man have the nerdy younger brother and Serena the tall, blonde, cute sister?
GossipGuy: Yes. Jenny and Eric will date and so will Lily and Rufus. If nothing else, family functions will be a lot easier to coordinate.
DANdy: Not unless Jenny wants to end up like Jamie Lynn Spears.
3. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
GossipGuy: I actually (re)fell in love with Lily this episode when she told Dan that Bobby at the service entrance could be bought. Sniff. She approves of my favorite couple ever.
DANdy: I may be off on the wording, but a guffaw ensued after Blair got her maid a new phone and said it's "so they can text."
LovelyLively: There were multiple Gossip Girl quotes revolving around Blair's gift advice for Serena that I loved - saying she should get Cedric a new outfit and call it a day, and rattling off items under $50. Blair rules.
4. Harder to believe: The availability of the gallery for Serena's sex nest, or Serena's outfit on Christmas day?
DANdy: The availability of the gallery. Figured lots of people would be buying Alison's art. It looked nice.
LovelyLively: Oooooooga!!!
GossipGuy: Serena's outfit. I'm pretty sure of two things. 1) That was lingerie she was wearing. 2) I died and went to heaven.
The Evil Proposal
5. Will Lily say yes to Bart's proposal?
LovelyLively: It's not that Bart is disingenuous or even a bad guy. He's just going up against possibly the coolest guy ever in Rufus Humphrey. Lily, for the love of God, answer the damn phone!
DANdy: Yes. Could you resist that singular facial expression?
GossipGuy: No way! She's going to pick up that phone. She's like the rest of us and has Rufus on her mind.
Gossip Girl Round Table: "Hi, Society"
Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Insider Round Table!
While Gossip Girl fans gather in the forums to discuss their favorite characters and story lines, our staff comes together to analyze the burning questions and best moments from the most recent Gossip Girl episode.
Topics from "Hi, Society" include threesomes (oh, yeah!), schemes going awry, wastes of space, and Dan's greatness. On to the Q&A…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Whose plan backfired worse: Chuck's or Serena's grandmother's?

DANdy: Chuck's. In the end, at least Serena's stuck up grandmother got to see her loved one happy. That has to count for something. All Chuck got to see what Nate rounding first and heading home with his love.

LovelyLively: If you look at each scam on its own merits, morals aside, Chuck pushed all the right buttons and just got a little unlucky. Cece, meanwhile, blatantly underestimated the resolve of both Dan and Serena. For that, she takes this cake. And it tastes like shame.

GossipGuy: I'm going to have to give this one to my boy Chuck. The results of grandma's plans backfiring? Her poor daughter is stuck being happy with Dan. She can always buy back Serena's love, I'm not too worried. But poor Chuck. He lost the love of his life. I <3 Chair.

gg-rt.jpg

2. Bigger waste of space: Carter Baizen or Blair's black/Asian two-headed lackey?

LovelyLively: Baizen. That guy's a total waste. The two-headed sidekick is more amusing, confusing filler to me.

GossipGuy: I'm going to actually go with Blair's black/Asian lackey. Because, despite what this question would lead you to believe, they in fact have two bodies and therefore waste twice as much space with half the lines of Carter.

DANdy: Carter Baizen. Mainly because he reminds me of the train wreck that was Oliver on The OC.

3. How happy were you when Dan kissed Serena at the end?

GossipGuy: It got so dusty in the room. Go Dan!!

DANdy: As happy as Rufus will be when he reads my final answer.

LovelyLively: It was probably just the garlic pasta and onions I ate, but there was definite welling up of the eyes during that scene. I seem to eat foods like that most Wednesdays at 9, coincidentally.

OMG!

4. More likely threesome: Chuck, Nate and Blair, or Lily, Alison and Rufus?

DANdy: The latter trio. We know Lily is a former groupie. There's little doubt she's tuned the chords to more than one guitar at a time already... if you know what we mean! As for Alison, hey, she cheated on her husband. Down a bottle of wine and start making it up to him!

LovelyLively: Seeing as Blair Waldorf went from virgin to nympho in like a week, Nate is rather unpredictable and Chuck is the ultimate bad seed, I'd have to say the odds of that happening are about 3:2.

GossipGuy: Sorry Rufus, but it looks like Blair will be having twice the fun soon. I don't think that tension between Lily and Alison is remotely sexual. And Chuck and Nate? I don't think they'll be crossing swords anytime soon, but we've seen both of these guys having sex - with a third person present - in the short 10 episodes we've had so far. It's only a matter of time.

Round Table: "Blair Waldorf Must Pie!"

Welcome back to the Gossip Girl Round Table.

While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss their favorite character and story line, our staff comes together each week to analyze the burning questions and best moments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.

Topics this week include dysfunctional families, missing Chuck, and Thanksgiving football - Gossip Girl style. Let's get to the Q&A…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What was the final score of the Humphrey family football game?
DANdy: 42-39. Based on the pasts of Rufus and Alison, it's obvious the captains of both squads know how to score. A lot.
LovelyLively: Girls 17, Boys 3. Alison was tough and fought for what she wants, while Rufus looked to punt in difficult situations.
GossipGuy: 0-0. Did you see how terrible both sides were?
gg-rt.jpg
2. Did Rufus make the right choice?
LovelyLively: Yes. That doesn't mean it was easy, or without a downside - who doesn't love Rufus and Lily together? He wouldn't be Rufus if he didn't try to make it work, though. Dan and Jenny surely agree.
GossipGuy: No. I'm sorry, any woman who claims emotional cheating is just as bad as physical cheating is clearly the wrong choice. Especially when the
other choice is Lily.
DANdy: Yes. You gotta put family first. And if Rufus and Lily remained close, they'd eventually get together and that would make Serena and Dan far too Marcia and Greg-esque.
3. Who has the more dysfunctional family, Blair or Nate?
GossipGuy: Wow, this is a tough choice, but I'm going to have to give it to Nate. His dad barely deserves to wear the pants he owns. Who cracks under the pressure of a figurehead position while living off your wife's money?
DANdy: Nate. The wife makes more money than the husband. What kind of bizarro world do those Archibalds live in?
LovelyLively: You'd think with a divorce pending and a gay partner in the mix, the Waldorfs would have this locked up, but at least Eleanor opened up to Blair at the end. Also, Nate's dad tried to kill himself. SIDE NOTE: Was this episode name created before there was a script? What gives?
A Grand Entrance
4. What did Chuck do on this holiday?
DANdy: I don't wanna get too graphic... but he stuck his thermometer inside many turkeys, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed his stuffing balls.
LovelyLively: If Chuck did anything remotely scandalous, Gossip Girl would say something. So he probably just ate a lot, watched Dallas kill the Jets, caught up with relatives, reflected on the past year, etc. Standard.
GossipGuy: I'm guessing he spent it eating a Thanksgiving buffet at the local
burlesque house.
Gossip Girl Round Table: Seventeen Candles
Welcome to the fourth Gossip Girl Round Table.
While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss their favorite character and story line, our staff comes together every week to analyze the latest developments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.
Topics in this edition include: Vanessa views; Guitar Hero; and Blair/Chuck's future. Let's get to the Q&A…
Do you like Vanessa?
DANdy: Not until she backs off a bit. We know Dan (Penn Badgley) is a catch, but have some respect for Serena and give him some space, Vanessa. Girl power.
LovelyLively: I go back and forth on this. She's a very nice, down-to-Earth gal, yet an obstacle standing in the way of Dan and Serena's love. Which, if you love that couple like I do, makes V my enemy.
GossipGuy: No, but I do like her eyes.
gg-rt.jpg
Should Rufus give Allison another chance?
LovelyLively: I think so. It's hard to throw away a marriage after hard times resulting of complicated circumstances - even if that led to some awful decisions. They'd know it if they were through. Despite their issues, Rufus wants to give Alison another chance and she wants to take it. Enough said.
GossipGuy: No. I'm all about family first and what not, but unfortunately Allison was not. I think Dan's speech put it best.  And besides, have you seen the chemistry between Rufus and Lily?  We need to get those two together!!
DANdy: No. His children are old enough now where the best lesson he can team them is this: actions have consequences. Always be aware of them and take responsibility for them. Jenny and Dan might benefit from having a mom around, but they'll benefit more from seeing those words come to life. Goodbye, Alison.
Serena and Vanessa Serena has mad Guitar Hero skillz. What song would you most like to play in honor of your favorite character?
GossipGuy
: I'm going to have to actually go with Vanessa's choice of "Cherry Pie" by Warrant, in honor of Blair.  If you need an explanation of why, just take her to a burlesque house.
DANdy: This warning goes out to Mr. Archibald: "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin.
LovelyLively: On a bleak, drizzly, late-autumn day in the Northeast, I'm feeling a little "November Rain" coming on in honor of young Mr. Archibald. Nothing lasts forever, Nate, and we both know hearts can change.
Will Blair and Chuck date?
DANdy: Twice a week in the back of his limo, definitely.
LovelyLively: Chuck rules. Somehow the writers managed to make him express his (sincere) feelings for Blair while leaving the smarminess we love intact. I'd love to see where this goes between Chuck and Blair at least. The only problem? There's not a lot by way of couple names. Bluck? Bassdorf?
GossipGuy: Absolutely.  I think whether they like to admit it, these two characters were meant for each other.  They're both so deliciously evil.  They'll go great together.
Gossip Girl Round Table: Victor, Victrola
Welcome to the third Gossip Girl Round Table.
While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss their favorite character and story line, our staff comes together every week to analyze the latest developments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.
Topics in this edition include: Blair and Chuck; the Bass men; and sensual massages. Let's get to the Q&A…
More surprising: Blair and Chuck having sex, or Dan and Serena not having sex?
DANdy: Considering how a certain, dandy panelist predicted Blair and Chuck would get together during the last Round Table discussion, I'll say Dan and Serena. I thought he'd put the "wood" in Van der Woodson for sure!
LovelyLively: Gotta go with Blair. She blew off Nate, cut loose at the Victrola and was getting busy in Chuck's limo in what seemed like the blink of an eye. Never saw that coming. Dan and Serena holding off wasn't too shocking, as they clearly like each other too much to rush things.
GossipGuy: Can I choose neither? I've seen Blair and Chuck happening since the masquerade ball. I've seen Dan and Serena not having sex for this whole episode.
gg-rt.jpg
Did Nate do the right thing by turning in his father?
LovelyLively: Definitely. Not only is the old man putting his own health and business at risk by abusing cocaine, he expected his son to take the fall for him? That is bull$hit if you ask me. With his mom in complete denial, as well, Nate and his bloody lip had no choice but to take action.
GossipGuy: Absolutely. The man tried confronting his dad, he tried going to his mom for help. Papa Archibald was out of control and needed to be stopped. He friggin hit his kid!
DANdy: No. As Lindsay Lohan can relate to, it's hard to grow up with your father in jail.
Man with a PlanWill Lily take Bart back?
GossipGuy
: I hope not. Lily needs to be with Rufus. How can you not feel that chemistry?
DANdy: She'll probably have a cow first, then tell Bart to eat her shorts. Eventually, though, Lily will cave.
LovelyLively: Not if Rufus has anything to say about it. Even though Chuck's hunch about Bart and the Asian reporter proved to be untrue, he and Lily don't seem like they work as a couple. Her chemistry with Rufus is palpable.
More awkward: Realizing you just slept with Chuck, or your dad catching you reading up on sensual massage online?
DANdy: The former. At least sensual massages can't lead to sexual transmitted diseases.
LovelyLively: Option B. Explaining that to your pop? As uncomfortable as it gets. Realizing you slept with Chuck can be a rude awakening, sure, but there's no doubt the man has game. Right, Blair? Chalk that one up to a learning experience and move on... maybe he won't even remember.
GossipGuy: Well, since I personally think Chuck is the man, I'm gonna go with the sensual massage. Need I remind you Chuck even asked Blair if she was sure?
Gossip Girl Round Table: The Handmaiden's Tale
Welcome to the second Gossip Girl Round Table.
While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss their favorite character and story line, our staff comes together every week to analyze the latest developments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.
Topics in this edition include: Vanessa vs. Serena; Blair and Nate's sex life; and smooth Gossip Girl quotes. Let's get to the Q&A…
Simply put: Vanessa or Serena?
DANdy: To take one of our favorite Joey Tribbiani quotes, when the Friends character was asked if he'd prefer the cute girl from the Xerox shop or a tub of jam: Put your hands together!
LovelyLively: Like the classic Summer-Anna debate from Season One of The OC, this Gossip Girl question for the ages requires a mere six-word answer: Serena is hot. Vanessa is not.
GossipGuy: Simply answered: Serena.
gg-rt.jpg
Will Blair and Nate ever have sex?
LovelyLively: No, at least not for a while. Blair's as sexy as they come, but she also likes to string guys along, if you know what I mean. I mean she's a damn tease, like Britney Spears, circa 1999. Blair knows what she's after, that everyone wants her. Just pray Blair doesn't get married twice, crank out two kids and start flashing her crotch constantly by age 25.
GossipGuy: Not at this rate. Nate, you need to stop professing your love and desire to masked women that may or may not be Serena. And really... telling her not to talk?
DANdy: No. Nate isn't being fair to Blair and she'll eventually dump his boring ass (and beautiful eyes). And we know who will be there to pick up the pieces, i.e. give Blair her first horizontal mambo lesson, right? Chuck.
Smoother Gossip Girl quote of the night: "You look ravishing. If I were your man, I wouldn't need clues to find you." (Chuck to Blair), or "I thought he should know how it feels to lose you. Cause, trust me, it's not fun." (Rufus to Lily)
GossipGuy
: I'm going to have to give this one to Chuck. That man may be a creep, but he's one smooth creep.
DANdy: Rufus is on the rebound. I didn't feel the sincerity behind his words. But Chuck? He may be a dirt bag, but he can recognize hotness when he sees it. And that's all he's relaying to Blair here.
LovelyLively: I wouldn't need clues to find you? Are you kidding? Unless you're playing the board game Clue, that's just stupid. Rufus gets full marks, however, for masking the blatant cheese factor of that quote with great timing and just enough sincerity.
Are Chuck and Jenny now even?
DANdy: Not by a long shot. Chuck probably enjoys being in his underwear. Jenny didn't enjoy almost being violated.
LovelyLively: Chuck could be the bigger person and look at it that way, but it's like I always tell people, "If you get locked outside in your underwear, never let it slide." Little J will get hers and then some, mark my words.
GossipGuy: I think it's going to take a few more practical jokes from Jenny for it to be truly even. I mean, Chuck did try to violate her. I Jenny needs to tie his underwear to the flagpole to even things out so this couple can get together and live happily ever after.
Gossip Girl Round Table: Dare Devil
Welcome to our first-ever Gossip Girl Round Table.
While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss their favorite character and story line, our staff comes together every week to analyze the latest developments from the latest Gossip Girl episode.
Topics in this edition include: Rufus and Lily getting to first base; the absence of Chuck and Nate; and a game of Truth or Dare. Let's get to the Q&A…
Who will kiss first: Jenny and Eric? Or Rufus and Lily?
DANdy: Rufus and Lily. Eric has a lot of growing up to do, many demons with which to wrestle. He's not ready to be swapping spit or starting any relationships until he's happy with who he is as a person.
LovelyLively: Rufus and Lily. There were definite sparks between them last night. Anyone could see it! She can pretend to be all put together and out of his league, but you can tell she wants it. Rufus is one smooth operator and that middle-class charm will soon be too much for Lily to resist.
GossipGuy: Rufus and Lily for sure. Did you guys see that chemistry? And come on, Lily is starting to act more and more like a human and less like a socialite every episode. I can't wait to see them together.
gg-rt.jpg
Where were Chuck and Nate?
LovelyLively: Nate was probably on a hot date... with a country singer, perhaps? Just a hunch. As for Chuck, sources tell me he was having a tryst of his own... with a dude. Just kidding. I have no sources. But think about it: Chuck, under the radar? He had to be keeping his whereabouts secret on purpose. If he's gay, that's all good by me, but still a tad scandalous.
GossipGuy: Good question! Dan may be my favorite guy on the show, but I need my Chuck (Ed Westwick) for entertainment - and I'm positive the ladies need Nate for the eye candy.
DANdy: On the welfare line. Remember last week? Nate had has his trust fund drained. Dude needs some cash. And Chuck - who proved in that same episode to be a surprisingly good friend - is keeping his poor pal company.
New PalsTruth or Dare with Blair: Harmless fun? Or asking for trouble?
GossipGuy
: Well since they broke multiple laws and had a run in with the police? I'd say harmless fun since everyone got off scot-free. And, plus wow, it really made Jenny assert some social dominance! I want in the next game!
DANdy: Turns out Blair was asking for trouble by trying to initiate Jenny as just another working bee. Little Humphrey turned around that Blair Bitch Project and made it known that she's far from a random Jenny from the Block.
LovelyLively: Hmm. How about harmless fun that progresses into serious trouble? Call it what you want, Blair seems to thrive on this teen pastime, and I don't think she could have fun without causing trouble! Bad news Blair is the best kind of naughty!
